2004 maxima transmission issues

Bought a 2004 maxima drove great for 30 min. Shut off when I turned on and shift to reverse loud bang and drive same thing. Plus it's stuck in 5th gear and the gears are not showing up on the screen. Should I ditch the car? Everything works awesome beside it seems like abs kicks in at low breaking speeds a bit.

thanks everyone, new to the forum world

Seems like your car is in fail safe mode, alot of issues can cause that car to go in fail safe mode, and make it seem like the transmission is acting up. I would get the car scanned if you don;t have a scanner. In fail safe mode the car makes a loud bang only when you put it in reverse and it drives very slow in other gears.

That's (P0705) your park/neutral position switch. Check it out. The part number is 31918-8Y000.

P0705 still with replacing parts

Hey guys, so I have the same code popping up. I replaced the PNP switch twice, once with aftermarket, other with Nissan part. Code still won't go away and car is stuck in 3rd. Any other ideas as to what could be causing this?
The Nissan part installed was done yesterday. I am extremely confused.
