ECU reset

Hello everyone,
wife's car is driving me nuts. When we purchased the car it had the seal in the timing cover leaking and would set a code. The dealer we picked up the car from offerd to replace the cover. The shop that replaced the cover called and told me the timing chain tensioner as in need of being replaced. And the cams was retarded. So I stopped by the repair shop to see. They replaced it and reset the cam timing.

Now for the fun part. I keep getting codes P0011 and P0021.I clear the codes and a few days later both codes come back. It really shows up when driving the high way. It takes no time for them to come back.

is it the ECU or something else?

It sounds to me like the cams are not set correctly, not an ECU issue. Shop must not have set the timing correctly.

I think you can read that off the live data of an OBD tool.

Did not think of that. Time to learn something new today.
Thank you for that!

Specs should be 15 ± 5° BTDC.

I'll see if mine will ready it. If not I might know of someone that does.

Wonder if I should clear the codes before reading it or leave it.

Error codes do not affect the reading. Read with or without.
