Camshaft Position Sensor Issues

My car was shutting off on me every now and then and afterwards, it would take about 5-10 seconds for it to crank before it fired. The problem began to worsen and my car would shut off on me even when idling and it threw an idle speed code. My mechanic performed an idle relearn procedure 3 separate times, including an accelerator pedal position reset and I drove around for a month without a single engine light, but it did shut off on me twice after that. I read forums and they all state the camshaft position sensors are to blame on Maximas that shut off when driving. Out of all the times it shut off, my car never showed a camshaft position sensor code until about 3 weeks ago. I ordered new sensors (Hitachi branded sensors, which I do not think are the stock part), installed them, but cracked one of the pigtail connectors and it wouldn't lock into place correctly. With the new sensors in, I go to start my car and now it takes 2-3 seconds to crank before it fires every single time I go to start it. However, it has not shut off on me yet! My SES light also came back. I do not remember the codes, but it basically said that the engine was bypassing one of the sensors because it had a weak signal. Another code stated there was variance (timing?) between bank 1 and bank 2. I ordered a new connector to replace the one I broke in hopes it would fix my problem. Well, it didn't. Does anyone have a clue what my car's problem could be? Is it because I didn't stick with OEM sensors that cost $95-100 a piece? Did I receive faulty sensors and should I contact rockauto to return or exchange them? I have until the 27th and it will be past their 30 day return policy. My mechanic offered to look at it again with his diagnostic scanners, but I still want to know if another Maxima owner has a clue what's gong on?

oem brand for Nissan is either denso or Hitachi. its also possible your timing chain has play as these engines are known for tensioner failure
