Transmission is making sounds, surges of power and revs
My nissan maxima se 2006 is running like crap. I jus started back to college nought this car really cheap to drive to school. the transmission is making sounds, jumping like it gets a surge of energy. And revs i guess when i go to take off sometimes. hoping its not the whole transmission any suggestions

Welcome the Org.

While you may have transmission issues (let's hope not) based on your description, I would start by cleaning the MAF. If that doesn't work, replace your MAF with an OEM MAF from a junkyard.
What "sounds" are the transmission making?
Auto or stick?
Have you checked the condition of the transmission fluid and ensure it's at the proper level? That's step 1 for sure.
Also, not sure if your generation maxima has a drop resistor, but the problems you are describing are usually caused by a bad drop resistor for the 4th gen maximas. It's worth looking into. It's cheap and easy to replace.
