Transmission is making sounds, surges of power and revs

My nissan maxima se 2006 is running like crap. I jus started back to college nought this car really cheap to drive to school. the transmission is making sounds, jumping like it gets a surge of energy. And revs i guess when i go to take off sometimes. hoping its not the whole transmission any suggestions

I revised your thread title. A thread title with "M" is about as lame and vague as you can get. Thread titles need to tell the reader what your question or comment is, and will help those who actually use the search engine.

While you may have transmission issues (let's hope not) based on your description, I would start by cleaning the MAF. If that doesn't work, replace your MAF with an OEM MAF from a junkyard.

What "sounds" are the transmission making?

Auto or stick?

Maxima se 2006, sounds

It comes out of gear when it shifts, then pops into gear and jerks, very scarry when alot of traffic. it is an automatic v6

Have you checked the condition of the transmission fluid and ensure it's at the proper level? That's step 1 for sure.

Also, not sure if your generation maxima has a drop resistor, but the problems you are describing are usually caused by a bad drop resistor for the 4th gen maximas. It's worth looking into. It's cheap and easy to replace.

I'm following threads, although mine is a 4th gen I'm having the scariest surging issues, almost ran into a store window. Like doing a brake stand.. omg. Hope you get it fixed.
