Hi, I just installed a new used engine and everything is great except for the fact that cylinder 2 fills up with oil after sitting for a few days. I found out after starting it a week after sitting and there was a miss and it was running rough. I started checking spark in all the plugs and plug 2 was black and really oily, so i looked into the cylinder and it was a little wetter than usual and the car would smoke initially after startup. This is my first time owning a vq35, so is it common to have a bad valve seal or is this a spark plug gasket issue? Thanks.

 

Spark plug tube seals is shot. Best way to fix is new valve cover.

 

I was leaning towards the same cause. needed this reassurance. cant go to the states now, this is the only vq35 (other than 4 other 350zs, but their gaskets are different) in my country (no parts support), so I guess I'll be cleaning plugs and topping up oil very frequently at least until december, when I'll hopefully be back in the states and will be able to buy a gasket kit. thanks so much.
