Rattling noise where axle goes into transmission

I have been casually lurking here for some years. I have an 07 Max with ~135000 miles on it. It has been great. My issue is that I went looking for a wheel bearing noise. I lifted both back wheels and spun them and checked for looseness. All seemed good. I saw on Youtube that you could lift one front wheel off the ground and put the car in drive and without giving any gas the wheel would spin so you could listen for bearing noise. Pass side no problem. tried rocking wheel , no problem. DRIVER SIDE I was not able to rock the wheel but when I lifted it and put it in gear I heard some nasty rattling sound and whuh whuh noises near where the axle goes into the CVT. My poor diagnostic skills led me to replace a perfectly fine axle with a new one (assumed bad inner CV joint). Still has noise. I do not know that much about differentials. Is this noise something that I should expect when I lift the drivers wheel and let it run in drive or is it an issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When I lift only the driver side front wheel and put car in gear it makes rattling whuh whuh noises where the axle goes into the CVT. Is this normal?
