Timing Chain Mating Marks
Timing Chain Mating Marks
Hello all.
Long time searcher, first time poster.
I'm 3/4's through replacing all the timing components on my 07 Maxima (Cloyes kit w/ Water Pump). I'm now installing the primary chain.
My Cam mating marks are aligned with the "grey" chain links. My "gold" crank link is one link long.
When I place the link correctly there is a lot of slack between the crank and the water pump, and I'm assuming as soon as I turned the engine the chain would jump.
When I apply pressure on the tensioner side, it does not seem to help making up any of the slack on the water pump side.
I'm hesitant to "turn back" any of the cams to correct, but I have read that is acceptable (if I understood correctly).
Understandably, this is not a job I want to perform twice, and so far Christine has not fixed herself.
Appreciate any advice.
