2008 p0021 code
Hello, I have replaced variable valve timing control solenoid twice and the crank sensor. The check engine light went off for 3 days and then came back on and I got the same code p0021.
Any other suggestions, note the car runs fine besides a little ruff idle.
Thank you,
Tom

Tom, if the timing chains have not been done, then I would say that the chains are stretched and their guides are worn just enough to get you out of timing, which is very common for the 2007/2008 years. I had my serviced at 100k miles. I would stop changing parts and rule that out.

Galley gasket is torn causing low oil pressure and this will cause the P0011 & P0021 codes that refer to timing over advance etc.... I have the same problem for years now with my 2008 max and I'm only at 112k now started at 98K very expensive repair around 2k with new water pump and timing chain w/gear kit. I just keep eye on oil level and change every 3k. emission testing is a pain to pass, but I clear code then change my oil and drive for maybe 20 miles and no codes reappear then go for my sticker never fails!
