No throttle then warp factor 3.

I had an unusual situation the other day. It's been taking a while for my car to turn over sometimes. Once it gets going, it's fine, until 2 days ago.

Driving along with no problems and I come to a stop light. When it turns green I press the pedal to speed up and nothing, the revs don't go up and I'm thinking I've stalled out, all of a sudden I almost get whiplash as it takes off and I'm almost pinned by with the G-force. I never knew my car could accelerate that fast!

Anyway, come to the next light. Same thing.

After that, it didn't happen again. I don't have a check engine light but I'm going to plug in my ODB2 tomorrow and see if anything comes up pending, meanwhile I'm looking for suggestions at what could cause this sudden failure then sudden acceleration. Stuck throttle control? oxygen sensor? failure of the clutch to engage? What can I check myself and at what point should I take it in?

I would do a throttle body cleaning (maybe the throttle plate is gummed up).

I would also clean the electrical connector for the throttle body as well. The connector might be corroded, which causes resistance, and that will require a greater electrical pulse to overcome said resistance to pass the signal to the throttle body.

After that, I would be looking at the throttle body itself. It might just be on its way out.

Thanks for the suggestion. Doesn't seem like it's too difficult so I'll give it a try.

Thanks

In a strange twist of events, I went to start my car this afternoon and the battery died on me. So now i have to figure if my alternator is dead or if it's the battery. I'm pretty sure the alternator was done recently but I'd have to go through my files to see. If it's not one thing, it's another.
