Hello fellow forum members,
I have a 2005 nissan maxima with 120k on her. Rear end suspension seems weak. I bottom out fairly easily with only a relatively lite rear end load. Should I do a full spring replacement or install those lifts that sit under the spring (1inch, 1.5 inch. or 2.0inch varient). In addition, can either course be performed on the ground or is a lift needed to get the car high enough to do the job. If a spring replacement is the better of the two options any advice which ones to install other than OEM.
Thank you in advance.
Yeah, that is quite typical with the 6th Gens. Considering how old you car is, I imagine your rear springs have seen better days and are probably a bit tired.
I changed mine out years ago with a set of Moog springs. They are a bit stiffer, so the ride is a bit harsher if you have rough roads in your area.
Yes, you can change them without having a lift. You'll need a jack and a jack stand, though. Put the car on the jack stand and use the jack to compress the arm and the spring so you can bolt it up. The pic will give you the idea.
Ok. Great! So the Moog springs did the job. I looked at them however was concerned about aftermarket brands especially when they only go for $80 a pair but also know that the O.E. stuff is a rip off. Did you buy new seats for them? Thank you very much for your reply. Greatly appeciated!
