2007 Maxima (dreaded) starting issue

Hey guys.

07 Maxima, just replaced alternator and Battery about 2 months ago. Alt went first, and then a couple of weeks later it slowed started on me one morning and was dead by noon. When the batter was checked it had no water it in. Before the slow start day every couple of says it would give me the 'starting issue' ... I'd turn over the ignition and have full power, but when turned to crank youd have no power. I did spend a few weeks reading threads here on the forum about that problem and was convinced it was just a quirk of the car - which seems to be the result many come too with this problem.

It hasnt done it since the battery and Alt replacement until two days ago. Today I had to try and crank it 15 times to get it to do anything BUT when it does crank its a strong crank, and the engine runs great, and there is no check engine light and its not giving any codes. So, Im turning the key to illuminate etc and everything come on normal. When I turn it over to crack I lose all power - even the OD goes black but some lights on the dash are still and it wont do anything. Sometimes i can turn to key off and back on and it cranks right away, but as I said above sometimes it takes multiple tries.

I am hearing a single click when the first crank fail happens. It doesnt sound like any traditional starter click ive heard but its honestly been a decade or more since Ive had a started go out on me so Im not sure when Im hearing. Im also not getting any other starter symptoms - slow crank, weird noises with it does crack .. nothing. And I just walked outside to make sure I was describing this eight and it cranked every single time I tried it without a problem (you can never recreate the problem for the mechanic haha)

Like I said above I am currently going thru a bunch of the no start threads hear but Im not reading my exact problem or seeing anything that makes me go 'AHHH' so I figured Id add to the no start thread pile in hopes that someone knows something.

Im reading so many different things ... cam sensors, starter, etc - but a majority of the threads im finding the porblem is never found.

thanks guys!

Check all of your ground wires, especially the larger heavy gauge wire.
