BTW - In general, this speaker system is the low point of this car. I just can't get it to sound right.

Maxima SV, Premium, Technology, Splash Guards, Sub-floor Organizer, Mats, and Rear Spoiler in Winter Frost and Charcoal leather
Thats about right i think. I agree it doesnt sound very good. The lower mid bass is weak and it lacks detai overall. There should be a mid range adjustment, sub adjustment, and maybe some kind of surround sound effect so it wont sound so flat.

Ok so i have question i bought my car like 2weeks ago it had 16450 on it. Im not sure if the the 15000 mile service was done. I checked the carfax and it said this "Oil and filter changed chassis lubricated Emissions inspection completed " and that was at 15155. What is all that is necessary for the 15k service and will it void my warranty if it wasnt done. It totally slipped my mind that day to make sure it was done. Just trying to figure out if i should get it to the local dealer and have it done.

Emission sensor

Hi, I have a 2009 Maxima with 46,000 miles on it. About 6 months ago, I had a check engine light come on. I had it checked and it was for the emissions sensor. The dealer told me even though it checks emissions, it is not covered in the emissions warranty because it doesn't affect the emissions. They told me that it probably needed to be recalibrated but I should do an oil change first. So after all that the light stayed off for a couple of days and came back on. Now they said I should bring in all of my oil change records to the dealership because it could be affected by that. I told them I did regular oil changes and if it is not covered under warranty then why do I need records? Their answer is that what Nissan tells them to ask for it. The light occasionally goes out for a week or so but comes back on. Anyone experience anything like this?

I'm looking for ideas. I have the whole rear of my '11 Max apart...seats and package tray. I'm trying to think of something to do in the way of LEDs or something else behind the speaker grills or something while I have it apart. Looking for suggestions from other members. I put a factory spoiler with integrated 3rd break light so I took out the package tray to fix the hole the light left...I want to post pics of the process when I get released as a noob. Thanks

No, you don't have to have that done at the dealer. Just change your oil yourself or take it to a service center you trust. That is all that is really necessary the rest is "check belts, tires, etc.)

No. imo, nissan stole some styling cues from the charger (2006+). However, the new charger looks similar to the new lancer evolution.

Hi folks.

I have an issue on our recently purchased '11 Maxima. It seems as though the interior climate control doesn't' have precise temperate control (if that makes sense). It's particularly obvious when using the dual zone feature. For example if the driver side temperature is set to 18 Celsius (the lowest), there doesn't seem to be any difference in temperature of the air coming out of the passenger vents until the temperature is raised to 32 Celsius (the highest). At which time it is very warm, like expected. However if you were to drop the temperature back to 31 Celsius, say (should still be very warm), the air coming out of the vent seems to be very similar, if not the same, to the 18 degree air coming out of the driver vents. Sorry if this is confusing, but hopefully I'm making some sense.
I've had Dual zone climate control in other cars and I've never noticed this before. Maybe it's some feature, or I'm doing something wrong???? Has anyone else experienced this? Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Question

And another question...

Is there anyway to turn of the voice help prompts on the bluetooth phone system? I can't find it in the manual and can't seem to find it with a forum or internet search. I'd rather not listen to my options each time when i'm trying to make a call.

Thanks in advance.

The Alternate Command Mode enables control
of the Audio, Climate Control and Display sys-
tems as well as additional commands for the
Vehicle Information, Phone and Navigation sys-
tems. With this setting active, the system does
not announce or display the available commands
at each step.
When Alternate Command Mode is activated, an
expanded list of commands can be used after
pushing the TALK switch. Under this
mode, the screen for Standard Mode commands
is not available on the display. Please review the
expanded command list, available when this
mode is active, as some Standard Mode com-
mands are replaced. Please see examples of
Alternate Command Mode screens.
Please note that in this mode the recognition
success rate may be affected as the number of
available commands and ways of speaking each
command are increased. You can turn this mode
ON or OFF. When this mode is activated, the
Voice Recognition Settings will change to show
more options

Activating Alternate Command Mode
1. Press the SETTING button on the instru-
ment panel.
2. Select the “Others” key on the display.
3. Select the “Voice Recognition” key.
4. Select the “Alternate Command Mode” key.
5. The confirmation message is displayed on
the screen. Select the “OK” key to activate
the Alternate Command Mode.
6. Alternate Command Mode is activated and
the setting menu is expanded to include the
Alternate Command Mode options. See
“Settings menu” in this section for an expla-
nation of the options

Also look for the "Minimize Voice Feedback" in the settings-voice recognition menu

info starts on page 4-157 in my manual. might be different in 2011 manuals.

Hey guys, im looking for a new car to replace my 04 avalon and have narrowed it down to the 2012 acura lt-sh awd, and the 2011 maxima sv with premium. I love the looks for the current maxima but im worried about the cvt tranny. I know some people have had issues with it going into limp mode when it becomes to hot, and it also loses all power about 90mph. i know the acura is about $5,000 more than the maxima but im not sure if it would be worth it. I know the acura has a much better sounding ELS audio, and it also has AWD which would be great up here in ny.

I need some help deciding on a car.

I would recommend going on a test drive in each model. Then coming too a Conclusion...Due to the fact that each has their own opinion, But I would go with a max (prob cause I own one) & I wouldn't worry about the CVT after inquiring about the "No-Nonsense Warranty" Nissan Honors. . .Come back and let us know the outcome...Remember another Maxima is Always Welcome!!..

Thanks Car Addict. Like Funnyman, I have the premium package (Canada) so it's the colour screen without Navigation. In the Canadian Manual the setting instructions start on 4-155. I don't have an "others" or "voice recognition" key under my settings button, and the manual doesn't seem to address systems without the Nav. Maybe it's not available on our systems????
At least I know what to look for now though. Thanks again.

Well it's good to know I'm not the only one.. lol. I think I read in the manual that you can cancel the voice feedback instructions by pressing the phone button again, but I haven't tried this yet. I also can't find it in the manual anymore. HAHA.. I'll test it out later.

Ya I tried doing that but it goes into manual mode which only let's you use the controls on the wheel to go through the options without using voice at all...
Maybe together we can figure this one out.. Lol!

So u r in Canada? I am in Toronto area..

So I guess you can just skip the prompts by just pressing the phone button on your steering wheel controls. I'd rather have them turned off, but it's much better then having to listen to the entire run through of options.

I'm in Calgary.... Originally from Newfoundland.

So my 2010 maxima SV sport has the color monitor but no nav. Can I easily add a backup camera to this system so I can use this screen?

If you have the color monitor, you should have the backup camera.

here is a post that shows you the different displays the maxima offers...

I have the setup shown in the second pic, but I don't have backup camera.. Is this because it is a Canadian model?? So I can add a backup camera and view it on my monitor??

Just hit the phone button again on the steering wheel and she shuts up and lets you talk. I found this accidently one day, but I have the same annoying problem. Occasionally its nice if I forget the order, and thus the appropriate command to say, and I don't want to take my eyes off of what I am doing to glance at the screen. This works with or without navi. So if you wanted to make a voice call, hit the pick up phone, as soon as she starts talking, hit it again, and say what you want. You can breeze through the menus much faster that way.

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum and to Nissan as a whole, glad I could find such a nice resource.

Recently I've got a '11 SV + sport package. I love this car and that's why I'd like to take care of it as much as I can. I've got the leather treatment from dealer, but I'm not sure for how long that will be enough... the verbal promise is 3 years warranty, but I'm not sure about this... that's why I'm looking to take care by myself and in the same time not spending too much on his.

So, my 1st question about leather seats is if 2011 Maxima SV + sport package has real leather covered with plastic/vinyl. A friend of mine told me that real leather seats are on 200K+ cars.. which I'm not sure since it really feels like leather... but this kind of stops me to get further, since I don't know what to buy to care of it...

I could though find out that dealer used Blue Coral protectant creme in order to condition leather seats, I even got half of the bottle of it... (due to failing twice to cover properly)

Thank you in advance.

As with most leather upholstery, the surfaces you touch when seated (bottom cushion & seatback) are leather while the sides, back, etc. are vinyl.

For those of you with the SV premium with the rear shade, are you able to tint the back window or does the shade actually touch the rear window. im afraid the shade might start scratching the rear tint.

The screen frame touches at the top corners as it completes its upward trip. The part that
touches is rounded and smooth, so shouldn't rip the tint. There are lots of defrost wires
affixed to he inside surface of the rear window, so Nissan had to be very careful to not let
the screen do any damage to those wires.

I always raise my screen in April and lower it in late October. The only other time I move
it is to lower it if I am cleaning the inside of the window during the warm part of the year.

Replacing Backseat on Premium Package

Hi All,

I searched the forums and found no reference, so here goes. I'm looking at buying a 2010 SV that has the Premium Package...and I really don't like those bucket seats in the back. I'd much rather have the standard 60/40 folder. I'm hoping that the body is the same and I can swap out the backseat, but I'm really hoping that someone can give me a 'yay' or 'nay' on the mechanics of this. I'm not worried about any included electronics, I can mod those to make them work...but if the bolts / cutouts / etc don't fit then I'm hosed.

Many thanks,
David

Please do not get tied up in 'miles per tank.' That is the worst way to try to guage fuel economy. Running out of gas in this 7th gen Maxima could
end up costing major bucks, as the fuel pump is in the tank, and cools itself by staying submerged in gasoline. Also, running out of gas in this car
could mean you might need a new catalytic converter ($300 to $900) in order to pass emissions tests.

The onboard 'miles-to-empty' display is a good thing to rely on, because it is actually giving you the distance you can travel AND STILL HAVE A FEW
GALLONS IN YOUR TANK. I would strongly advise against trying to use those last few gallons except in a true emergency.

Also keep in mind that, in the event of a power outage in your area, fuel station pumps no longer work, so I would advise always refueling before the
tank gets near empty.

The way to measure your fuel economy is miles per gallon. All other methods are meaningless.
