This may be a silly question but I'd like to know how to roll up the windows without starting the engine. Any ideas?

i was wondering, do the maxima S come prewired for the Xenon headlights? like if i wanted to swap out my halogens for some OEM Xenons would everything interchange? or would it be better to just get an HID kit? can the halogen projector housing withstand the heat?

you'd just have to get a conversion kit. and xenons actually run cooler than halogens.

Hello all- I have a question

Hello everyone...

I plan to purchase a used low mileage 2010 Maxima in August or September. I have been studying the car and this site and I know exactly what I want:

2010
SV
Premium Package
Technology Package
Rear Spoiler
Crimson Black exterior (Strongly preferred)
Charcoal interior

Here is my question: Nissan has confused the heck out of me since they seem to have changed the packaging of the car's options every year. I will be shopping online and veiwing the photos. On a 2010, how can I identify if the vehicle has the technology package with certainty? I gather that navigation ONLY came with the technology package in 2010. Am I right? If true, this would be an easy way for me to tell when I look online as most ads have pictures of the navigation on the screen. Is there an easier way to tell?

Thanks for your help.

Newbie with a question:

I'm on the cusp of buying a 2009 Maxima and have it down to two options...one with everything but the premium audio (it was a fleet car) and one with everything. They both have about 14K miles but the one without the premium audio is $2000 cheaper than the other. My questions:

Is the audio worth 2K?
Would it easier to just upgrade the audio in the cheaper version?

Thanks for the advice....can't wait to get behind the wheel!

The tech package has diagonal direction buttons as well as the reg up, down, left, right. The monitor package only has up, down, left, right. Also, the tech package has 6 buttons on each side. Sorry if the pics are a bit large, I couldn't find smaller ones.

Regular no monitor package, no tech package

monitor package, no tech package

My non-bose system sounds fine. I am not that happy with the Bose system in my 5.5 gen. I know one thing my brothers stereo in his G37 coupe sounds WAAYYY better then my 7th Gen max. I'd say in the end I would listen to them both and decide then.

I recently bought a 2011 3.5 sv premium with the tech package. I noticed if I hold the unlock button on the remote that the windows roll down. What are some other cool little features?

Thanks! That's exactly the type of reply I had hoped to get. As you are likely aware, many ads do not tell you whether or not the tech package is included. This will give me a definitive way to identify this. I appreciate the reply.

if you take the little key out of the remote and put it in the drivers door handle, turn it to the left, you can clsoe the windows.

Thanks for the responses, I think I'll go with the non premium sound, and pump the 2K into some other goodies.

I would be inclined to do more checking. Unless the car was special ordered in large volume, I don't think it is possible to order a Maxima with an upscale radio, but no other embellishments.

Unless the premium audio was added later by an audio shop, I suspect the additional $2K is for more than just an upscale radio. I would check and see if perhaps the more expensive one may have the Tech package with Music Box and maybe a back-up camera, etc. If so, you would be getting far more than simply an audio upgrade.

Mine does that but idk why when I take the key out of the remote and turn it to the left my windows doesnt roll up. Is it because mine isnt equipped with one??

What's that ding!?!?!?

Every once in a while my Maxima will "ding" at me for no apparent reason. The music will fade and then I hear a ding and then the music goes back to the normal level. I see no warning lights come on and I can't find a setting where it is trying to alert me to something wrong. It seems to happen either when I am first taking off or slowing down. Any ideas???

See first part of my post... and yes, I would add cash. Just saw someone make that very trade on here recently. Gonna go aftermarket, but figured I'd throw it out there to make this legit. So...offer stands. Mint 18's plus cash for gray 19's. Thanks .org

TK
ps. I commented on the maserati/milf stereotype in another thread. That's so dead-on accurate. Just saw a hot combo the other day.

HID question: I've used ddm tuning kits in past cars. Does the maxima need code eliminators or dual in dual out adapters? I wouldn't think so, but I haven't dug around much in there. Also, I usually run the 35w, but since these have projectors and a really good cutoff, I'm tempted to go a little hotter, 6K, and 55w. Thanks

09 head gasket

I recently brought my 09 Maxima for an oil change to a local Nissan Delaership. When I came to pick it up the sevice advisor tells me I have a leaking head gasket. He sais they need to keep the car for a couple days to fix. I'm covered so I say OK.

When I pick up the car it is louder and I see it idleing funny.
I have a customer who is a Nissan serv tech so I bring it up to him. He sias he's never worked on a Maxima head gasket in 8years...he sais they are almost bullet proof. He asked me if i saw any oil in my driveway or garage or did the check engine light go on. Neither one happened.

What can I do?

When I take my key out of the remote, I can use it to raise and lower all four windows with no problems.

The fact you are having trouble doing this is not a serious problem, so I wouldn't make a special trip to the dealer for this. But next time you are at your dealer, you might ask him why other Maxima owners can do this, and you can't.

There are so many dozens of things this car can alert us to that it would be difficult to guess what the problem might be, or how serious it is.

I definitely consider this to be a warranty problem, and would have the dealer find out what is going on.

If you have the Nav Package, keep the map on and see if you see any "icons" that correspond to a place very close to where you hear the ding. If it is the Nav doing this, it should be pretty consistently "dinging" at the same location. Otherwise, I would follow Light's advice and get it to the service department.

I would never use those to wash a car. But I have used the touchless kind and it works ok, just have to bring a few towels with you to dry it properly.

I find that the brushless ones don't get off some dirt/dust so when you go to dry it you're effectively scratching the finish.

Alright, I'm gonna stop by there when I'm getting my window tints removed from this shop. Wasnt really happy the way the tint came out so they are refunding my money and gonna have different shop tint it.

Edit: Fixed it. Before I got mine the car was in the show room and they had to jump start it and I guess somehow it got the automatic window reversed or something like it rolls down auto but wont roll up auto so I looked in the owners manual on how to set the roll auto window up and got it set up. Tried it this afternoon and it rolls up with key turn to left!

My Max is an '09 with the Nav. pkg. It has "dinged" at various locations, but I will look at that more closely to see if that could be it with the GPS. I don't have a light alerting me to anything, but I guess it is a possibility it could be out but I don't think any other dash lights are out. I do however have to take my car in to have a new computer module installed because I don't have ANY interior lights and the dealership said that the fuses were OK and that the module is more than likely the cause. I'm a little nervous about having the computer replaced already (only had the car three weeks and the previous owner said he didn't have this issue). The following lights are out: 1) all 4 map lights 2) both visor lights 3) trunk light 4) puddle lights on bottom of doors 5) the 1 & 2 buttons for driver seat setting don't light up and 6) unlock button only on the driver door panel. Anybody heard of this before?

Will a 20x8.5 with 38 offset work on our cars? If so, how will they sit? Spacers needed to bring out any? Bolt pattern is correct.

Thanks .ORG!
