Hey, has anyone experienced problems with the turn signals in the mirrors? My flashes but the two in the middle have a funky twitch

New owner of a 2010 Maxima S and was looking for some help regarding a mirror swap. My car came with the auto dimming inside rear view mirror and I as looking to swap it with the one that contains the HomeLink. I searched on eBay and all of the ones I have seen appear to have a different connector than what I have. No pictures at the moment but the connector is 7 or 8 pins wide with only one row just under the mount. Most of the ones I have seen are 2-4 pins located on the side of the mount or 8-10 pins but arranged in two rows.

I tried contacting Courtesy but they were not sure and steered me in your direction. Only other thing I can provide is the connector I have has two wires, not sure of the colors of the wires at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreeciated.

A bit more to add to my previous post. I checked the FSM for the mirrors (MIR) and found my connection (R13). Looks like I only have a ignition and ground wires. Is it safe to assue that the Homelink part of the replacement mirror would only need these two wires? Would the compass I have seen on them not work?

Thanks again.

Might have figured this out on my own.

Looking at the FSM and then doing a bit of searching it looks like the OEC+/- connections (which my car does not have) are for the autodimming outside mirrors so I should be able to get all of the functions with just the ignition and ground wires attached. Just waiting to hear back from Courtesy on whether or not they carry the connector (R4) I need. If not, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can pick up this connector? I'm thinking the dealer could probably order it or I would have to hit the junk yard and cut it off one (assuming there are newer ones on the lot).

UnderGlow Mounting Location

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to firststart out by saying "I love this site/forum"!! You guys have answereda lot of my questions without mehaving to post a single line

I know many people areagainst the idea of having underglow installed ontheir maxima, but I can't helpbeing a big fan of them. It was one of thosethings that caught my eyes when Iwas a little kid and I knew I had to get oneinstalled to fill my childish needs.SoI took the plunge and got the front and 2 sides installed a few weeksback.Unfortunately, I am unable to find a good mounting spot for the rear tube.Haveanyone done this already? If so, how did you mount the rear tube?

Just wanted to say Hi

Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to do my first post. Just want to say "Hi all". Sometime this week I expect to be the owner of either a 2010 Frost White or 2012 Dark Slate Maxima. Both are S models. the 2010 has 30,000 and the 2012 has 28,000. I prefer the white but logic tells me to get the Dark Slate since it newer with less miles. Same price for both (different dealers)
Is there any big change between the 2010 & 2012 models?

And the '12 has the newer, more useful TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system). The '10 has a simple light that gives no clue as to which tire is low.

iSimple vs USA Spec ?

My wife just bought a 2010 SV without the tech or premium package, I've doing research on the iSimple gateway and USA spec, for ipod / iphone integration. Which one should I go with? I am looking for something relatively easy to use. I was wondering if anyone could recommend one or steer me in the right direction. Thanks

I believe that the 2010 and later years TPMS monitors and displays all 4 tires but still does not tell you which tire is low.

Newbie, sorry can't find my specific answer to this easy question

Hey Y'all,

Awesome site- awesome rides ! Trying to get mine up to par. Here's my questions. Just put stock 370z Rays on my 7th gen and the rear tires stick out. Haven't seen them rub yet, but not sure I like the look. Wanted to buy the same size rims all around but couldn't find them. Will rolling the fenders fix my problem or is that just for rubbing? Any other options? BTW stock suspension ... so far

first post

Hi, I hope I am in the correct spot for a first post.
I have an 01 Maxima which has ECU problems. I have searched through
so many website and found this sensational pool of experience and knowledge.
My question is would it be possible to post a photo of the inside of my ECU
as it shows two burnt out points?. Looking to have these identified if possible
by others who are experienced as I have none.
I politely ask where do I do this?
Car still runs but just shut down.
RAA identified burnt out fuse number 2 engine continuity. Towed to repairer
but started again so brought home due to his high quote.
Thanks

First Post/Engine Cover question

Hey Folks! First post and a proud new owner of a 2010 SV. So far I'm loving the car and can't wait to get some highway miles on and get my average mpg over 19.9!!

I do have a question regarding the engine cover...or rather, the cover that is on the left side of the engine (looking at it) that covers the windshield wiper fluid reservoir. On the few Maxima's that I looked at, this was tightly affixed by some type of fastener or clip (though I couldn't find it), and on mine I am able to lift the front end up. This isn't a huge concern or a safety issue (it's still fastened by the clip near the wipers), but can anyone tell me how it fastens so I can get a replacement clip? Again, with it being a new car to me, I'd like to get it back to normal.

I don't believe there is a clip on the front. It's probably not quite installed right. If you take out the fastener at the cowl and take the whole thing out, you should be able see to some slots/tabs along the outside edge. If you work those down carefully first, it should snap into place, then re-secure with the fastener by the cowl.

Great...I'll check it out when I get home this evening! Thanks gizzsdad!

Worked perfectly! Thanks!

Engine Bay weather stripping

One more noob question...

The "weather stripping" (for lack of a better identifying term) on the inside of my engine bay has deteriorated/torn off in a few different places (see pictures below). Should I be concerned about excess water getting inside, or enough at least to see about replacing it? Again, being a new car to me...I'd like to do the small things that might cause a problem down the road. If you folks would recommend replacing it, what exactly is it called so I can reference a part number. It appears to be a solid piece that is held in place by a handful of grommets on the front and sides.

Thanks again!!

I don't remember how the fade/balance was on my Maxima when I bought it five years ago, but do remember re-adjusting both fade and balance the first week I had the car. It may be that the rear is quieter because the speakers are so close to the rear seat passengers? Just grasping . . .

If you can bring the rear speakers up to the level you want by use of the fade control, I wouldn't worry about it. But we will see if others here who are much more audio-conscious than I am can add something here.

Hey guys, it's been a little over a month with my 2010 SV Sport and I'm loving it thus far..

I have a question regarding the extra settings that some folk have mentioned where the headlight auto off can be changed from 45 seconds to 30 sec amongst other settings... where would I access this menu and which button(s) would I push to get to it?

Please note that I do NOT have the tech package, so no Navi or Backup Monitor; the round button directly below my amber screen is to turn the A/C on and off.. the settings menu to the left of the steering wheel only allows for shuffling through the MPG, Miles Left, Maintenance Interval Reminder, etc..

Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

My Maxima drops around a tenth of a quart of oil between oil changes (each 4K miles). I don't recall any posters here mentioning an oil burning situation.

My '09 SV (58,000 miles) does not drop at all between oil changes. Using Mobil 1 and changing at 5000 mile intervals.

Yes, it's normal. That's the way the system was designed.

I always adjust my systems to sound this way, so it was nice to already have it like this. If you prefer a little more volume from the rear, lightonthehill made a good recommendation, adjust to the sound you like with the fader.

Hello fellow maxima owners-
Purchased a 2009 Max S last month. I notice a black plastic plug inside driver rear door opening on the fender near the door latch. Does anyone know what this is for? The passenger side does not have one??

I took out one of the push clip fasteners along the drivers side wheel well to try and access a dent near there, anyways it seems like the hole for the push clip fastener has moved and now I can't get it back in. Any suggestions?

That would not be a place cables should be running, so I would guess it is for use in maintenance/repair/diagnostic work. Better than trying to take the car apart just to check a few diodes, etc.

Seems logical. Anyone else notice this on their max?

Yep. It is on my '09 with premium package and tech package. That is how I guessed it is for use in problem research, because there wasn't any additional equipment I could have ordered on my car.

Ok another question..

I thought I was going crazy but I'm not (don't ask my wife tho..)

My steering column is "dropping" from it's preset. It's the memory seat/steering position and I'm using the same key fob and its driver "1".

Problem is after resetting my column so the wheel is just above the speedo numbers...after ~2 weeks my wheel has dropped enough that the numbers are now blocked...and this is the position it goes to on engine startup. I can reset it and ~ 2 weeks later it's lowered again. The seat setting seems fine tho...

any ideas?

I have not had this problem, so am not the info source you are looking for.

BUT

I do recall seeing this problem mentioned here at times over the past five years, and I think there is a TSB (or several) on the steering column regarding this. I know there have been motor problems in the steering column, and I think there have also been gear/sproket problems which allowed the wheel to 'slip' down a notch or two. I'm sure there are those here on the board who can help with this if they read this.

Sorry for a silly question, but I can't quickly locate the answer in the manual, and I want to get back to the dealership ASAP, if necessary...
Anyways, when I got my 2011 Maxima back from the dealership today (the brakes were serviced, MAF sensor changed and some inspections done), the buttons/controls on the front panel (e.g. volume, radio, A/C buttons, settings etc.) are not illuminated any more. So, when it's dark outside I cannot see which buttons or controls to use/push. Is there a button or a setting which controls the light/illumination on these, or was something changed during the service? I feel there should be something that I can easily just turn on, or is it? I never had this issue before.
Thank you very much guys.

On my '09 the stalk used to reset the trip odometer is also the dimmer control for those lights. Turning left to dim, right to brighten.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response. I have just figured it out. They changed the position of the lights switch from "Auto" to OFF (I think). I just changed it back to "Auto", and the lights on the panel are back to normal .

Thank you.
