Help! I'm new here and have a question....
New to the forum and looking for some rims and tires. Seeing some of the cars getting a staggered look, but being a front wheeel drive, I was trying to get some input on the adv/disadv if any. I would guess it looks pretty cool.
First off Welcome! My answer would be get what you like. I'm sure others will chime in but it's your car and your money. I went staggered and love the look! The only draw back imo is tire rotations if that's a concern to you. It's all subjective to your taste (wheels size & weight, drop, and/or spacers). There are a lot of members that are very helpful and many will give their opinion if you post pictures of wheels that you may like. Happy hunting!
YEEEAHHHHH! Someone used this thread for what it was designed for! Yippee!!!!
Anyway, check this link.

I don't think you're going to get a "definitive" answer, but more words of wisdom.

Synthetic in the Maxima is strictly an option some drivers prefer. The Maxima is designed to run just fine on dino oil, and the Owner's Manual assumes most owners will be using dino. And they will. It is mostly drivers who are really into their cars that opt for synthetic. Synthetic is fine, but should not be used until the engine is properly broken in - that usually takes around 10,000 miles.
Synthetic is so slippery it makes the needed fitting together of engine parts much more difficult. As a result, engines that use synthetic from the beginning are very slow to be properly broken in, and may not be running efficiently for 30K or 40K miles.
Also be aware that synthetic oil, although it lubricates for a long time, should still be changed at 3,750 mile intervals, because it has gathered the same pollutants in suspension as dino oil does, and these need to come out of the car.

Sorry if this has been covered, but here goes.
I'm considering a base model with just the cloth interior.
How many of you have the base model and do you regret not upgrading?
I can't spend 35+ on a sticker right now. One son graduates in 3 weeks, and the other one still has two years left at BC.
Thanks.

Thanks for the update . this 15 post thing and the fact that this thread probably isn't taken too seriously by other members doesn't really help.
If you buy stock fog lights it's "Plug & Play" all the wiring is tucked up there close to where the lights go. The down side is you need a factory light / wiper switch( comes in the "Factory" fog light kit) The instructions that come with the "Factory" kit ( about $200) will get the job done. I did it in about an hour.
DRLs are Daytime Running Lights, required in Canada, but not in the U.S. Some Maxima owners like the idea of DRLs on their car. Probably helps a little with safety, especially with darker color cars that are not quite as noticable when approaching in the distance.
'hid' lights, usually referred to as HID lights, are the High Intensity Discharge (XENON) headlamps that will blind oncoming drivers if not properly adjusted. They are part of the Sports and Premium packages, and also as part of the Value and Monitor packages on the SV, but are not on the base SV or on any version of the S.
Hey! How is it going? Just joined the forum to do some research on a Max since I am in the market for one. Piggybacking off of my first post, I know I should have posted in this one first, but I have a question about the warranties that I have left on a Max I am planning to purchase.
I am currently looking at a 2012 Maxima S that is being sold by a BMW dealer as a 1-owner vehicle with 26k miles on it. I am wondering what existing warranties are left on the car if I were to purchase it? I am not sure how Nissan warranties work (i.e. if they are transferable, etc.). Please also let me know if there are other warranties besides the factory bumper-to-bumper (3 years/36,000 miles) which, again, I am not sure if it is transferable.
Thanks,
David

The power train (drive train) is warranted for 5 years and 60K miles. That covers the engine, tranny, etc - the entire drive train till the power reaches the wheels.
You are looking at a 2012 Maxima. The warranty period begins the day the car is first sold. For a 2012, that was probably between August 2011 and August 2012. So the 3 year/36 month portion of the warranty will probably be expiring between August 2014 and August 2015.
Any Nissan dealer can use the VIN # to pull up the original sale date for the car. That could even be done over the phone. I would fairly quickly find out the original sale date for the car and make sure to have any needed warranty work done before the warranty expires.
I have always assumed the Nissan 36 month/36K mile warranty would be honored by any Nissan dealer for whoever happens to own the car when warranty work is needed. If in doubt, any Nissan dealer can immediately confirm the situation.

Quick question for anyone with audio on 2014 Max SV with premium and tech packages. When playing retail CDs the track number and song length appear but no song title. My 2010 displayed song title fine..not sure if this was changed by Nissan for some reason. I checked owners manual and looked at settings on touch screen but I see no way of enabling this. Only thing I saw in manual was for car with 6 CD changer. Really not an issue but is slightly annoying for a simple thing. Enjoying new ride other than that. Thanks for any ones input

Absolutely. All you'll need to do is purchase an HID kit to replace the halogen lighting, many threads covering that topic if you use the Search button. As for the sport headlights with the black outlining, that may be very costly considering that you are going to have to purchase a pair of headlight assemblies if you do not plan on modifying your current ones by baking it apart and painting the insides of them.
thanks for the help but yea i do plan on buying the actual sport headlamps with the HID kit, i'm just not sure if it would work with my car because mine came with the halogen lamps stock. i don't really want to just buy a aftermarket HID kit.
Nissan use Matsus.h.i.ta 35w ballasts in their xenon equipped vehicles. There is a vendor that do sell these kits, link: http://shop.lightwerkz.net/Matsus.h.i.ta-35w-Ballasts-(OEM). Remove the periods in the name, the forum's language censor broke the link. You'll need to purchase a pair of D2S bulbs (4300k is OEM temperature) and you'll have the OEM HID lighting.

I don't have any experience with that as you may have to do some wiring. The ballasts will definitely have to be a in waterproof location as the OEM ballasts are not waterproof --- many OEM ballasts are not waterproof, it is not just Nissan. With that being said, I have no idea how the headlight assemblies are attached or how the wiring for the lights go on there. You may have to contact one of the guys on the forums that do headlight mods, they may direct you further.

pearl white bumper
Hey y'all,
I just traded a 2014 honda accord ex-l v6 (hated it) with 2600 miles for a pearl white 2014 maxima sv premium+tech. I absolutely love the car. I have a question for those of you that have a pearl white version. Do the bumpers match the body? i Know there will variation due to metal or plastic that it is painted over but i almost refused delivery of the car based on variation of color. Please let me know if I'm being overly picky about it or if any of you have contacted nissan and have been given a new bumper. I plan on putting a Stillen lip on it so i figured maybe i should just hit the whole bumper when i paint the lip.
On another note.. i have seen the best looking cars ever on some of the threads on here. I hope i can be of some help and contribute to this community.
thanks in advanced to the members that have made this site great with tons of information and dedication.

This is something to do with a ridiculously short 'timeout' thing that seems to be rather common around internet sites these days. This has been a problem that has gotten worse over time, and is one reason I don't spend as much time here as I used to. I have had many hours of research and work thrown away, and it becomes discouraging.
Within the next day or so, I will try to come up with a very brief snippet that will help you determine exactly what you have.

Zygoat - I will try once more, keeping things very brief, hoping the 'timeout' ogre won't stab me in the back again.
For '09:
If you do not have turn signals in the outside mirrors, you have a base 'S'.
If you have the outside mirror turn signals AND your rear seats fold down in the normal 60/40 manner, you have an 'SV'.
If you have the outside mirror turn signals AND your rear seats do NOT fold (except for a small passageway behind the fold-down console) AND you have a normal sunroof, you have an 'SV' with 'SPORT' package (includes 19" wheels and spoiler).
If you have the double-panel panoramic roof, you have the 'SV' with 'PREMIUM' package.
The 'TECH' package was also an available option with the 'SV', 'SPORT' and 'PREMIUM' versions.
Lots more I could say, but I don't want to be timed out yet again.
Light, being in a field where I type a lot into internet fields, a good suggestion is to type out your information in a text program like Word or something then just cut and paste into the internet field when you're ready. Just a suggestion
Thanks!

also just fyi i do the word/ notepad trick quite often to avoid the time out issue, very frustrating.
