Unhappy Seeking help for SUB and AMP if possible

hey everyone i have the base model maxima and im trying to get a sub and amp installed in my trunk (yes im doing it myself because i have done it before with no issues but im having SERIOUS issues with this darn car)

im using a hi-low converter to rca cables that go into my amp then from amp into sub (which is pretty much the basic setup)

i cable tested everything and i found the cables to hook up hi-low converter to and it works beautiful but when i turn radio at 18 my amp goes into saftey and i know FOR SURE the sub and amp are fully 100% functional because i had it in my dads mercedes .... i just wanted to pre-wire everything before i go buy my JL setup....

first i tried tapping into the cables from the rear sub speakers under the back window......that didnt work so i was like iight screw that let me tap into the radio deck....so i took off the climate control sectional then removed bottom carbon fiber cover then unscrewed radio deck....did the same wire testing process....NO LUCK!!!! same issue i turn up radio to 18 and amp goes into safety ....does anyone have like pictures or something of there setup so i could look @ and try to fix mine?????

PLEASE im desperatly seeking some help over here... i dont wanna bring it to these radio places because they rush and rip things apart....

are you running the factory stereo?? If so, that is probably your problem. When I worked at nissan, i put the radios in the new max. They are very complex, as they have so many wires that go from and to the radio

Based off of what you are describing, it really sounds like your hi-low converter is not functioning properly. Without knowing a great deal about the converter you are using, I cannot say too much but there is typically a gain adjustment that can be lowered. This could very well be the source of your problem if the amp only cuts out at a volume level of 18 or above.

I know I am working with different components in my '05 Max but the principal of what I am doing is the same. I tapped into the speaker level inputs going into my factory subs and connected the speaker level connection to the speaker level inputs on my amp.
