I got in a minor fender bender today, only dented my rear bumper, no creases or paint chips, how do I fix it? Im assuming just pounding it out wont work since its plastic, please help me fix my baby!

Tough to say without seeing. I would first try parking it so the sun can hit it for most of the day - it might pop out by itself, especially if you can access it from the back at all. If that didn't do it, I'd try a hair dryer and/or a small suction cup to pull it out.

Good luck!

well, I tried heating it up with a blow dryer, then pushing it out and super cooling it. Whudya know?! it worked! I have to take the bumper off now to get to the last little dimple cuz its right over the bumper support so i cant push it out. Im pretty happy it was so easy

Nice job! I heard that heating it up could fix it but never tried it.

yup sure does work. and I supercooled it using a can of air duster, spray it upside down and it will spray freeqing cold liquid, that way youre not pushing on the plastic for 10 min straight waiting for it to cool off. and actually I learned that if the dent is big enough, heating it up then super cooling it, will actually cause it to pop itself out without even pushing on it. My dings are too small and it didnt work that way.

First dent on my new car!

Sorry to grave dig...but I just got my first dent on my 2010. The dent is not too big, it's on the right rear quarter panel (not sure if I'm using the right term) above the wheel well. My question is, is there a way to access the panel from the inside to push out the dent? Or will this be an expensive body job? Thanks in advance.

Call your local "Dent Doctor" or a trusted local body shop that can contact him for you. If your dent is just right for $60 or $70 he can get it out, and you will never know it's there.

I had this done to my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix once and it was great.

It will work fine as long as you don't have a crease in the paint.

The hair dryer trick also works for larger bumper dents too. My wife backed into something with our former Altima and hit it with the corner of the fender, pushing the entire corner in. After removing the bumper and heating it with a hair dryer, I was able to push it out and make it look pretty good (not perfect - it was too bad for that).

If the hair dryer isn't powerful enough for a large dent, you could also use a propane plumbing torch. Be sure the use the flame spreader attachment to disburse the heat, keep the flame moving, and DON'T use one of those MAPP gas torches - they are way too hot.

I would get under the bumper by removing as few parts as possible to reach that spot & try poking it back out.

else to make things more symmetrical, you may want to put another dent in the very same spot on the other side.
