Went to a local tint\stereo shop and asked him how much to do the tail light tint. He quoted me $199.00 and only had one shade. That seems expensive, right?

Same quote I got for painting mine...$250 if they have to pull the lights off $200 if I bring them my tail lights. Does seem high...thats the main reason I'm still lookin for someone to install my Bluebat tints...although if after trying it with a random light it seems easy maybe I'll just main my own. Definitely need a paint booth now.

I did my 09 maxima with the charcoal laminate from lamin-x. I turned out great for me, just took some time to install. I spent about an hour on each light. I cut out the white part myself. I have one pic that you can look at in the photo gallery posted on 12-08-10.

How'd you get it to lay flat around that hard corner at the back of the light - you know what corner I'm talking about its the only borderline impossible angle on the light. Do you cut the tint at all or stretch it? When I got to that corner I had no idea what to do to make it work and ripped it back off...

Hey guys sorry to hijack this thread but I have a question about the tail lights. I dont have enough post to make my own thread but I hope you guys can help me out. I recently found out my left rear tail light has 2 cracks in it. I wan't to replace the housing for the lights and not the entire unit itself. I checked at courtesyparts and found this.

http://www.courtesyparts.com/maxima-...8342_8352.html

It seems they sell the entire unit for $200+ but wasn't sure if code # 26557(LH) was just the housing itself cause that's only $40. Any help would be appreciated!

ALSO sorry about posting.hijacking again.

Thanks Joey

Taillight tint

I bought the taillight tint spray from Autozone, pulled out the tailights, and shot them with two coats. Came out great.

Thanks, its one coat of vht nightshades and 6 coats of clear wetsanded down to a nice shine. Prepped with 1500 grit and used 1500/2000 after the clear, and meguiars ultimate compound to bring back the shine. One coat is plenty if you want a tint but don't want black tails.

I think spray tint is the way to go, to me it looks better plus films will crease and shave off. vinyls are nice but over spray is where its at. as to have many coats of spray is the question, and i think it depends on the color of your car. if you have a black max, i say tint the ***k out of them. my 7th gen is the cyber gray though so i did 2 coats, enough so that sitting it looks cool but driving you can tell much

I agree I think painting is the way to go, and as others have said you can sand it back down and polish it to a factory bright red shine if you ever need to.

If you have a light colored car I recommend 1 coat of VHT, it seriously was plenty for my car and any darker would look odd in my opinion. Does look nice to black them out for the darker color cars but be careful that your LED's still shine through when you're done.
