I also came from an Impala, the Max blows it out of the water in every category except interior space.

34 (bought it when I was 32). Always loved the Maxima but I kind of forgot about them and went the way of the evil Honda until the 7th gen caught my eye and I had to have one! I'm really glad I made the switch!

Im 25 always loved Maximas. My first car was 98 Max GLE. Since then I have had Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda, and BMW, but just always found myself wanting to come back to my Maxima roots no matter what I was driving.

Great array, Tech400! Brings back so many memories! Manuals were the only way to go with most of those vehicles. I still remember the first auto tranny I had the opportunity to drive in the early 1950s; I think it was called 'Powerglide' or something like that, and it was a real slush bucket. I thought it was the worst thing I had ever driven. It belonged to my Pastor, and I smiled and admired his car, but said nothing about that awful tranny.

I began earlier ('49 Studebaker), and have had more Maximas (7), but you have had many more non-Maximas and many more brands than I have.

I also considered getting either a Henry J or a Kaiser or a Tucker in 1949, but the Tucker nameplate was already going under, and there were no Henry J or Kaiser dealers near where I lived.

I keep hoping we will have a 95 year old sign onto Maxima.org and tell us about the Terraplanes, Pierce-Arrows, Reo Royal 8s, Packards, etc, that I used to see rolling by my home in the 1930s.

Hello lightonthehill

That 59 Chevy was a powerglide that I converted to a manual transmission with the car jacked up and laying on my back in my driveway. We could work on the cars then.

You were obviously more mechanically advanced than I was during those days. I do remember the 1930s and 1940s when I could drop an empty oil can from above on either side of the engine and it could fall all the way to the ground without hitting a thing on the way. Of course having no power steering, no power brakes, no air conditioning, no automatic transmission, no tranny cooler hoses, no windshield washer, no struts, etc, etc, left the engine rather small and lonely.

You remind me of our son, who spent the entire decade of the 1970s rebuilding Camaros. Even today, he has an unusual '92 Ranger STX pickup which my wife had owned and driven for 200,000 miles. We had put lots of custom stuff on it. Our son has replaced almost every moving part in that truck. He keeps it spotless, and drives it to work in downtown Atlanta traffic every day.

I must admit my old back keeps me from doing as much as I would like with modding my Maxima, although I feel very good about how my fender well trim and painting inside the wheel well turned out, and the discreet mud flaps I made and attached to the front of the useless Nissan splash guards have worked very well, keeping the sides of my baby clean. By always adding such subtle mods to every Maxima I have ever owned, I am always able to spot them if I ever see them again, which I usually do.

I'm 39 and this is my 4th car and 2nd Maxima. My first was an '83 Camaro, next, an '89 Chrysler Conquest TSi. My first Max was a '99 Black SEL I bought back in 06. I just traded it in on my 2010 Frost White Max SV - Premium + Tech Pkg last week. It's my first NEW car.

Jason I did a writeup here on the ORG over a year and a half ago on installing mud flaps to the face of the Nissan OEM splash guards. But a better and more complete writeup was done later by bmanbmv, and that can be found by going to the stickie posts at the top of the 7th gen board and selecting the 'Installation Instructions/How to's/ . . .', going down to the third section ('How To's), then selecting the entry on installing splash guards (and mud flaps). Others have added info to that thread.

Several folks here have done this, so if you have any further questions about this, just post them here, and someone will have the answer.

That's funny. Over here I have yet to see anyone under 50 driving one. Also, most of the drivers I see are female .

My parents just bought me a 2010 maxima sv for my 18th birthday. I am letting them keep all of my college money since i am enlisting in the United States Marine Corps soon. It was black and fast and awesome in every way.

sadly a week and 3 days ago 3 drunk mexicans ran a stop sign and i t-boned them going about 60, my brand new beautiful car is totaled and they said i shouldnt have walked away from that wreck. Fortunately im a tough bastard (USMC ) and i have one broken bone in my foot because my foot went through the brake pedal in the crash. So now the idiots get to buy me a new one and I can attest to the safety of this car 1st hand, it literally saved my life. and im getting another one this week

New Maxima owner , age 54 , drove GM products for 35 years. Last two were Cadillac STS `s , and Park Avenue`s before the Caddy`s. The nav and voice activation system is light years ahead of the 2006 Caddy. Just breaking in the Max , only 1000 km on it right now , 1000 km to go before i put my foot into it. I`m really impressed so far with this car. When i show my freinds what i bought , they dont even know what it is, they think Lexus , Benz ? when they approach the car from the side view. They had no idea how good looking this new Maxima redesign was.

And being in Toronto, you won't be meeting another 7th gen Maxima every few blocks. Gives one a sort of sense of uniqueness. Nice.

My wife and I are both 58 and the Max is her's. I liked the color, the stance and how well voice recognition worked. She too like the crimson black, but insisted she wouldn't buy it without the rear spoiler. The dealer had one brought in from Chicago, 3 hrs away. It has two gold colored pin stripes, which at first I didn't like, which since have grown on me. She traded her '06 Max for this one.

She currently is ticked off. She hand washes her car and then follows up with a detailer spray. Last night while detailing the car, she noticed someone has hit her car in a parking lot. The front license plate frame is broken, the license plate backing bracket is smashed and the top of the bumper is creased.

Smoke was rolling out her ears!

Smoke would be rolling our my ears also. Not just a hit-and-run, but a hit-and-run on a NEW MAXIMA.
That is a double felony, and if caught, the perpetrator should be sentenced to jail time, and then restricted
to driving nothing but rusty old Yugos the rest of his life.

Love affair

I have always been a Ford guy.. My family owns literally every line of car/truck ford offers. I had a 2001 mustang gt and recently got over my "sports car" phase. Little did I know, I was re entering the same phase when I fell in love with the '10 max! It was hard on my family to have a new member be anything but a ford let alone an import but after I showed them my homework and spec sheets and ratings they weren't opposed to it anymore. The day I brought it home and let them drive it, they became MAX believers! This car definitely gets overlooked and in the bay area of California it still isn't very popular on the roads but more and more people are jocking it especially all my friends and family. It has been weird making the transition to an import but I'm a prime example of adapting to the new age! So happy with my choice I just can't wait to put my little touches on it which I am having trouble putting a upgraded parts list together.. Don't want anything cheap in my baby!!

My first car was an 89 Max, a bit of a beater, but awesome first car. My parents then got a fully loaded black on black manual trans. '95 Max, which was awesome, I loved driving that car. Now I'm 27 and just got an 09 Maxima SV, Super black/black and I am loving it so far!
