Where do you keep your change?

I was looking for a good place to keep loose change in the car for parking meters and found the only place for me is the cup holders. The compartment areas have sockets located at the bottom which I found that change can get inside them. Where do you keep yours?

I would think you were only talking about pennies because there are coin stacks for nickels dimes and quarters but you said for parking meters and I don't know what parking meter takes pennies.

Took some time for me to figure it out too but you have to tilt the coins toward the back of the car for them to slide in.

We really need a "tips and tricks" or "hidden features" thread around here.

Why not use the coin holder.

I keep mine in a small samsonite case with a zipper. The case stays in the compartment on the bottom of the drivers side door. Gives me easy access to it when needed at a drive-thru or toll. I hate having change in my pocket so if I am getting into the car after leaving a store with change I simply pull the case out and stow the change before I get in the car. Works well for me and I think I bought the case at Target a few years back.

I keep mine in the smaller center console cubby hole. I don't use the power socket in there so the cap on it stays down.

The built in coin slots are an absolute joke. They don't even hold a collective 2 bucks worth of coins.

The coin slots for me work okay, at least for quarters, I can't speak for the other coin sizes but I have about 2-3 bucks worth of quarters in the coin slots for tolls and they don't fall out once in there. It is a bit finicky to put them in though, you have to position it just right and let it slide down.

Get a plastic cup the colored ones are the strongest. Place it in the door cup holder and place your coins there. I use that in my daily car to keep all the pens I collect from not returning them to their owners.

I'm not exactly sure how great of an idea that is. The Maxima has a more sport/feedback oriented ride quality and I think the inside of the car is going to sound like a slot machine when you go over bumps, pot holes, etc and they ching and slide around in that cup

My wife and I are virtually always in the car together, and we usually have our two styrofoam cups of liquid (Pepsi, Coke, Cheerwine, Green Tea, whatever) in the two cupholders. Unless we are on a smooth road, the ice rattles around inside the drinks, AND the styrofoam continually creaks against the sides of the cupholders. We sometimes play the Music Box just to drown out the noise from the drinks/cupholders.

Rattles drive me insane! Every now and then my sun glasses will rattle or one of my E-pass suction cups come loose (for those of you who know what that is) and it causes a rattle and I have to find what it is and shut it up asap before it drives me crazy. Nothing in a new car should rattle. (even the seat although that hasn't been a problem of mine)

Go back to the velcro on the E-Pass. Those suction cups, quite frankly, suck. As for storing change...I use a replica of my old gramps' circa 1900 coin purse that I keep in the center console. I noticed that my "gym seat cover" has a pocket as well, but as I only put this on coming back from the gym and take it off as soon as I get home, found that pocket pretty useless.

I do not keep any change in my car ever... The rattles drive me crazy haha! thank god for EZPass in the Northeast.

I had SunPass when I lived in Florida and I never had a single problem with the suction cups. Not sure why you would with the ePass, they're the same thing.

yea they are the same. No real problem. Once in a while (maybe every 4-5 months) 1 of the three suction cups come loose and it takes a second to realize where the noise is coming from.

I tried the built in coin holder and it works fine for everything but pennies. Will be using that going forward. Thanks.

Thanks for post - I overlooked this and was carrying a portable change holder which was very unhandy.

I place mine in the armrest where the slots are above the av jacks. It works perfectly even though it's only quarters, dimes and nickels

It's hard to find a nice dispenser that holds pennies as well.
Holds $5.33 in change: 16 quarters-9 dimes-7 nickels-8 pennies

I bought one of those cigarette cup things from autozone. The top comes off so it is basically a little cup. It fits perfect in the compartment by the cup holders and I can still close it.

i don't use the built in coin holder. Instead, I bought this: http://www.5starshine.com/info-auto-coin-holder.html about ten years ago and found it. So I decided to use it. It's placed in the black compartment, beneath the cup holders. I toss the pennies in the cup holder and take them home few times a week. Call me **** but it works for me.
