7th Gen - Aerodynamics

Enough has been said about boosting HP to gain performance. I get sufficient power for my needs from the stock setup.

The other side of the performance/handling equation is aerodynamic drag.

Is there any relatively cheap and easy way to significantly improve the aerodynamic efficiency of a 7th gen Max at highway speeds (80-90 mph)?

I'm not looking for eye candy. Rather, I'd like to significantly reduce drag, measurably improve MPG, and perceptably reduce turbulence/buffeting while driving through the seemingly unending head winds on I80 in northern Nevada's Great Basin Desert. No matter which direction I drive on my commute to/from a gold mine, it seems I'm driving into a headwind sufficiently strong to unsettle the car.

A lot of do it yourself type projects, which should be fairly easy to do. Hopefully your maxima will not look like a rocket ship

As if the car isn't aerodynamic enough. Let's see some pics when you come up with somthing.

Great link, it directly addressed my question. The modifications listed here would seem to have only tiny incremental improvements and you'd have to do a bunch of them to get any significant change ... but guess I'm not that enthusiastic.

It's not likely I will rip off the exterior mirrors and windshield wipers. I don't like the Bonneville Racer wheels. I probably will not seal all the sheet metal gaps with silicone, fabricate a full coverage belly pan, or enclose the wheel wells. LOL - if I'd wanted a Prius I'd of bought one.

The 7th gen already has many of the design features discussed at that site like the enclosed headlights, air dam front end, sloping windshields. And my stock Maxima S is pretty much devoid of bulges/add ons like spoilers and wind deflectors.

Oh well ... one can always dream.

slow down, you pay the price for driving 80-90mph, my mpg drops drop every 5-10mph over 65 I go, of course I get to my destination faster but I accept the fact that I use more gas.

Drop the car, lower center of gravity better aerodynamics..
And it will look alot better slammed..
