After market HID problem

I had a shop install after market (O-nex) HID's in my 2010 Maxima S. Everything was fine for a short while until one of the lights wouldn't come on frequently. This usually happened when I first started the car with Auto headlights on but not always. Basically I had to switch the headlights on and off and on and off until it would finally light up. So I took it back and they replaced the digital ballast for that side saying it was just defective. That worked great for about 2-3 months but recently the same thing has been happening again to the same side. The weird thing is I can recreate it easily or on the spot it appears to happen randomly. So I don't know what to do about it, I don't want to get pulled over because of this stupid headlight. There is no relay hooked up for the lights, so do you think maybe a grounding kit would help my situation, or should I take it back and explain that the problem still exist?

Your car is not drawing the correct power and as a fail safe shutting down the headlights. This instant shutting down can cause damage to the Ballast. I sell the inline relays or capacitors. There $45 each. ( Relay= 45 2 Capacitors = 45) but I think you can just get away with just the relay

Yeah, all you need is the relay to get power directly from the battery. The problem shouldn't persist after that.

Dont mean to bring up old threads but i am having the same issue with my headlights. I replaced the OEM bulbs for aftermarket 8000k bulbs and my drivers side is goin out after a few seconds when the engine is running. i am interested in learning how to fix this problem, and also curious if the relay did fix the problem for Invizion

get a different set of bulbs. I had similar problems with inconsistent bulb ignition on one side only while starting the engine with headlights set on auto. I was sent a replacement digital slim ballast and the problem persisted. I bought a set of bulbs from a different vendor and the problem went away. These aftermarket bulbs are made in China and the quality from bulb to bulb is not good.

IMAO, you are wasting your money if you buy relays or capacitors. If these parts were needed then everyone who installed aftermarket HID's would need them.

I'm not sold that my problem was specific to the bulb. I paid $200 for my O-nex HID's. After they replaced the digital ballast the first time the problem stopped for a short period. Like I said before it came back though and I finally caved and got a relay harness. So using the same bulbs and one new ballast along with the relay I haven't had the problem since. I would recommend getting a relay harness if you're serious about fixing this problem. At least it worked for me

Thank you! Everyone with an aftermarket HID kit should get a wiring harness. Glad it worked out for ya.
