Fog light bulb replacements

I am seeking replacement bulbs for the fog lights on my 2012 Maxima SV- would this be a suitable replacement- looking for a bright white look- any other ideas would be appreciated:

Easy to change

All you have to do is pull the plastic fender well out a little bit and reach in and pull out the bulb. You do not need to take the tire off.

Guess I'll be driving only in daytime for a while. Anybody know where I can get a low-cost replacement that is OEM-friendly?
I just ordered one from ebay for $70. RockAuto has them for around $200-225. Ebay item: 181534160119 I too put in a $100 bulb but that too was intermittent so I ordered the ballas/control unit. I will install it this weekend and let you know how it works. I also found a PAIR of D2S for $9 on Amazon so I will try out one of those this weekend as well. (I figure for $9 for a pair I would take a chance!!!)

@ ltleary

I bought a pair of d2s $15 and its not worth it. My drivers side wont come fully on until the 4th or 5th turn and now the passenger side is shutting down after a few mins. 6k bulbs look great but im going back to the stock phillips for the whiter look. I hope yours do better with the oem ballasts. Currently i have 55w 6000k in my fogs and side markers, but this weekend ill be changing everything up with some new sets coming in. I hate the light output of the stock projectors, its so soft, nothing like my new rogue that has 8k in lows and fogs and 55w 6k for highs. Now THAT is some bada$$ lighting. I would love to replace the stock projectors and i know theres threads on it, just not yet. Also, the manual says our highs can take 55w bulbs but mine wont take it. Weird cause the fogs can...well, back to work. Future mods and pics coming guys, hang tight.

With all do respect, if you buy cheap things for your lighting needs then sometimes you get what you pay for. You can get a quality kit for $150 and have the kit last for a very long time. I would not touch that ebay stuff as I have seen too many people having failures. here is a great dealer for HID kits. http://www.lightwerkz.net/
I have had 2 kits for 2 different cars and have never had a problem. Sorry if I stepped on anybody toes. just trying to help shed some light.

Youre good and no offence taken. I only bought the cheap d2S to see what the 6k would look like. My rogue is done up nicely just getting the max to where i want it to be, just checking kelvin colors ;-) i think i like the 5k range. But youre exactly right, you cant go cheap with these things.

Dang Nitehawk!!!!! 55W for FOGS!!! My hat is off to you. Mine is straight OEM. 35W HID replacements for both ballast and bulbs. The stock halogen fogs are good enough for me (no Italian Road Rally version for me!) (Sorry, old joke from when I lived in Italy 30 years ago...roughly translated we used to say the more lighting the faster we could go!!!)

Lol and if we were in rural countryside that would be true. Living in Vegas its never dark here, so the only true way i get to see my output is on my trips to cali. Ive got a 35w kit coming in for the fogs because with the oem projectors its just too much. I want this car to look as clean as possible, but this is my first car with projectors, im used to a reflector type system and beams. Ive been reading up on the clear black series lenses today and i think those will be on order soon. Ive never opened my headlights yet but we will see. As far as the fogs im fine leaving them a reflector, really not much use for them anyway if you live in the city. I never have used the brights on this car, i think theyre something that should be reserved for when youre the only one on the road. But i gotta say this, the 55w 6000k reflector high beam in my new rogue will melt a fly at 500 yards.

Check out the retrofit source. They have the black series clear 2.5 lenses for only $45. Several maxima owners have done it and seen great results as far as clarity, distance, and width. Theyre not hard to replace on the max either but im pretty sure you have to bake and open the headlights up

Really wanting to do this and see how the steps are, but the links to the steps on how to replace it on this forum, 7thgen.org, and HiDPlanet have 404'd and no longer exist. I will need to contact the OP of that thread to see how he did it, but the pictures on the RetrofitSource are the actual comparison pics from a Maxima projector.

I agree i dont see a vid or pics that load up because that thread is about 2 years old, and ive looked online, but he said its pretty self explanatory once you get them open. Im not doing this just yet because i want to wait until i have a 2nd set of headlights because i want to paint mine and do led switchback 3457ck also. Or maybe this will be a winter weekend project. Either way im all about superior lighting for all the max members and i think this is a great idea.

It's definitely a weekend project if you plan on painting them. I wouldn't expect to get it done after work or anything. One thing I recommend if you decide not to get the Triton 3457CK is to leave the piece with the parking light and turn signal chrome. I painted mine black and it really reduced the light output of my led turn signals. The chrome actually helps increase the light ouput due to reflection. I'm hoping somebody on here has some broken headlight parts they can sell me because the only ones I can find on ebay are $100 for the pair. I'm going to also be doing the clear lens mod at the same time. If you can bake open your headlights you can definitely do the lens mod. The headlights come apart in so many pieces. Just make sure you label and keep all the screws and tabs organized.
I got OPT7 AC 55w 6000k for my lows and OPT7 AC 35W 6000k for my fogs. Couldn't be happier. Cost me around $125 for both sets. They have been extremely reliable for the past 5 months. Also come with a 2 year warranty.

Bump it up!

I'm looking at these bulbs on ebay and I'm being told they don't fit our cars from their list. But it's an h11 bulb, so I'm thinking it should, shouldn't it?

H11 5900K Super White Xenon Halogen Fog Light Bulbs | eBay
These bulbs will burn out much faster and will be dimmer due to the coating on the bulb. The coating effectively makes your lights whiter or bluer due to the halogen temperature of 3200K, but traps heat and limits the brightness due to the film. Lose-lose situation. If you do not want to put an HID kit, you can purchase H9 bulbs and do a little modification to the plug of the bulb and it will fit into the stock headlight socket.

H11 lumen: ~1300 lumen @ 3200K temperature
H9 lumen: ~2100 lumen @ 3500-3800K

There are a bunch of tutorials online with comparisons and how to do this simple mod.

If your vehicle did not come with HID lighting and currently have the halogen H11 headlights, then all you need to do is select H11 when you checkout on their website. It should be all plug-and-play. Recommend to get a relay harness to have consistent even draw to both ballasts upon startup of your car so the ballasts do not short out.

I went with the Morimoto XB Elite HID's @ 6000K, also the relay harness from TRS. Very happy with the install. Quality kit, stone reliable.

Awesome, thanks guys going to give this a go -- Halogen makes the Maxima look kinda cheap! :/

Diamond White is my sweet spot. I dont need the projectors correct? it will be a little blurred using this housing but the cutoff should still be fine right?

Oh an question about the CANBUS relay dont need that for the bulb out error, or do we not get that?
