That Ester oil was nothing but a quick buck for Nissan, when I got my 09 they sold me an oil change package with my car that was specifically Ester Oil, I paid up front so my oil change every 3750 should cost 35 bucks but I was getting the 120 dollar oil change, that never happened cause other dealers just saw my oil change package as a regular oil change no ester.

After arguing with several dealers and calling Nissan I just switched to synthetic, and The Ester Oil does not hold up well according to UOA and is not worth the money

My Maxima is a 2010 SV with sports package. It has 103k miles now. I drive 7.5 to 9k miles between oil changes and it runs smooth. I use Valvoline synthetic oil everytime. After my car hit 100k, I wanted to use high mileage oil to save some bucks. My mechanic said it is absolutely our choice to choose the type of oil. However, bigger engines burn oil faster. So Dino oils may need a change every 3k miles while the synthetic can run over 7k easily (if you're not losing a quart or more). I will stick to synthetic at least till my car hits 150k miles. Ensure you do not accelerate your car hard when the engine is cold, this will avoid gases from seeping under the piston. I live in Boston and I idle the engine for at least 2 minutes and let the piston rings and oil rings expand to the working size so that you do not burn oil unnecessarily. .
