I noticed that my car makes some sort of noise when I turn the ignition to "ON" without starting the car. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's certainly noticeable with the driver door open and pushing the start button twice without pressing the break.

Does anyone know what this is or is it just my car?

 

I think you are hearing your fuel pump/injectors kicking on to prepare for ignition

 

does it sound like air is coming out of the car?

 

Its just the fuel pump activating, its fine dont worry about it. My car does that when I put it in the on position.
