After I bought mine in Navy Blue, saw one in CB a few months later. Kicking myself now that I didn't know about that color! Meant to ask you if you disconnected the battery before you installed?

@maxxxxspeed- performance gains will be on the top end... probably between 5-6,500 RPMs. As far as MPG's, the ECM will need to sort everything out with the increased airflow over the next few weeks before any real difference is made. I know most folks who install an intake or exhaust see WORSE MPG's due to "lead-foot syndrome"

J.K. looks good.... I installed the K&N version and enjoy it that much better every day

Now just drop it, cat back exhaust, and walah... one sweeter MAX.
Maybe some rims and tires.........

A bolt-on intake won't void your warranty. If anything went wrong, the dealer has to prove that your CAI is what caused the problem. Plus, it doesn't void the warranty on the entire car or even anything in the engine bay.

Only thing I'd be careful about is using the K&N filter. If you go to clean it and use the recharge kit, be sure to use as directed when you re-oil the filter element and let it dry overnight. Too much oil is no bueno and can start accumulating on the MAF sensor, which will trigger a MIL light.

Also curious how you're liking the intake, or if anyone has had a negative experience with the Takeda and changed to another model or taken it back off? I ordered this off Amazon but my mechanic recommended I keep the stock air box on because this will pull engine bay heat into the engine which doesn't help things much. Your car will be louder but since the air is hotter its expanded you shouldn't see much of an improvement over the cold air from the stock box.

A true cold air intake for this car would be the best option, that way the air is dense and you definitely get a nice sound and improved power. I thought Stillen's shroud went all the way around, but they only did it halfway. Takeda's only shields from the bottom and side mostly. R2C's does 3 sides and looks like it sits flush with the roof but still leaves 1 side open. Why doesn't anyone make one with everything closed off except for the opening from the grill?

well because of how our car was made, there is no way a true cold air intake can be made. you can contact search online n contact them but you will need to offer your car to them for them to use it to make the intake.but on the ontherhand, not every company wants to try it to our car because its still new n dat of the CVT trans.
i dont see them making true cold air intake for our car anytime soon. thats just IMO

i dont know why some members went with other intake than the RC2 intake. the most important thing about intake is the air filter and RC2 ihas the best filter than the other company.

i mainly bought the takeda because it was on sale on Amazon...lol...guess I'm going to list it up on Ebay now...unless someone on the forum wants it...

consensus seems to be the R2CIntake or nothing at all. gonna go ahead and order the R2C one right now and stop playing around.

I'm actually going with the Stillen intake next month. I really like the fact that it still uses the fresh air duct like the original airbox for a little "ram-air" effect. Just going to fab up a heat shield around the backside of the cone so that most of the air is pulled from from either the fresh air duct or down close to the wheel well.

I actually just decided to install my Takeda intake instead of returning it and going with the R2C. Hadn't seen anyone on the forums who were unhappy with their Takeda so figured why not.

So far (1 day in) I am happy with the noise change and it feels like it has increased pull when you really open it up. Flooring it and pushing past that button or increased resistance or whatever beneath the pedal REALLY makes this thing scream! I'm satisfied overall with this install, and I really like the way it looks in the engine bay.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the new mod! I'm looking forward to a bit more intake/engine sound when I install the Stillen CAI in a few weeks. You're right, when you actually put the pedal to the floor, these engines absolutely howl.

I got to test it more last night and I'm really happy with it. It sounds like I'll have to do an ECU reset to get it to work a little better, but I am loving the sound. Even at low RPM's it has a low roar...this makes me even more excited to get a Y-pipe on here.

So I guess you didn't disconnect the battery before installing? Curious if you have any dead spots in the rev range not doing so.

My mechanic installed it for me because I'm feeling lazy and it's rainy/wet over here and I don't have a garage to work in. I'm pretty sure he disconnected the negative battery terminal as it said to do so in the instructions. From what I gather though that isn't a full ECU reset, there is some process that involves timing/pressing the gas pedal to reset the ECU.

Any difference between Takeda or Stillen? I don't know which one I should get.. Can some one help me out here lol.. I personally don't want to spend no more than 280 for an intake, I seen stillen on ebay is for 267 free shpping!

Stillen looks like it has a better shroud but I got the Takeda for 220 and am happy with it, it's loud and looks nice!

If you want the best filter I've heard the best reviews about the R2C intake. I like my Takeda intake don't get me wrong but people who've owned both I think prefer the R2C

i have the R2C and the reason everybody choose it is cuz of the filter. when it comes to intakes, filter is the number one factor

I just installed the R2C 2 days ago and the first thing my girlfriend says is "that thing looks cool", and then "Holy crap, that's so much louder". I would say that thier design is about as close to a cold air intake we can get for this car. The filter element is impressive and it's a lifetime filter with only cleaning wth air every 15G.

R2C was 280.00 and 20 bucks shipping. If you cant afford it right now, WAIT, and get the R2C when you can, it's worth the wait. I've had K&N, and Ingen intakes before......R2C is that much better...

the only thing I think is if you get the R2C intake and have a strut bar installed you'll need to cut the R2C shroud to fit in the engine bay around the strut bar. definitely looks the hottest out of all the intakes though.

Yeah I've seen pics of your engine bay and the shroud does look nice even with the cut out. Just letting peeps know before they buy it and get surprised. I have Takeda and it's fine but I'll probably upgrade to the R2C at some point unless someone else makes one with a better shroud.
