Passenger Seat Motion

I just noticed that on my 2009 Max, one of the passenger seat tracks doesn't work. When I move the electronic switch forward, the motor cranks but only the side of the seat nearest the console moves forward. The track nearest the passenger door doesn't move at all. The obvious thing is that there is something blocking it but that is not the case. The funny part is that there is very rarely anyone in that seat so it hardly ever gets used.

Anyone have a clue? Are there separate motors for each track? Any suggestions on how to unbolt the seat from the car to check the bottom?

Thanks.

That's odd. Maybe just take it to the dealer and have them deal with it so you don't have to pull the thing out!

Have you put anything heavy on it recently?

I have 2010SV and the passenger side airbag off warning comes on stays for long time even when my wife is in the seat. Nissan and dealer do not see any problem with it and tell that's how it is designed meaning one has to seat in center of the seat and cannot lean out or move. Does anyone has this problem?

I had a similar problem. The airbag light would be on even if no one was in the car. The service rep said that the weight sensor in the seat was bad and replaced the seat. They replaced it under warranty. Ask the service rep to put what he said in writing so that if your passenger dies in a car crash Nissan can take the heat. If he won't then talk to his supervisor.

I don't know about the '10 and '11 Maximas, but lots of folks here on the ORG had this problem with the '09 Maxima, especially if the person sitting in the passenger seat was around 115 pounds or lighter. I'm a little surprised one of those folks hasn't posted in this thread.

With regards to my original post, after several hours of removing all the plastic around the bottom of the seat and unplugging and re-plugging in all the connectors, it just started working again. Go figure. Hopefully Nissan has made some improvements in the seats in the 10 & 11, I have had many odd and annoying problems with the seats in my 09.
