Headlight Tints

I was wondering if you can just apply these right to the outside of the headlights. If so what happens if it rains withing 24 hours?

tints usually take a few hours to dry usually 24-48 hours to fully dry, and yes you could apply just on top of the headlight

If you actually wanted to tint it the right way than you would have to do it from the inside of the lens. Otherwise it wouldn't last to long due to the elements.

My suggestion would be to just paint the housing instead. That way it'll be DOT compliant OR you can just get tinting film from somewhere like ebay. This is due to the fact that if you ever run into issues from the law than you can just remove it. Furthermore, you wouldn't have to worry about the rain or what nots ruining your paint job.

That's just my 2 cents about your decision.

Thanks...I was wondering how tint would hold up in the elements and wondering if vinyl overlays might be better...I am going to contact DMV and local PD and see what the issue is with tinting headlights if you can still see blinkers and brakes

No problem man, let me know how everything turns out for you. Interested in seeing the final product.

Just to point out one thing about the vinyl overlays. Yes, they are cheap but they are annoying as HELL trying to put on. My advice would be to get some from MetroRestyling if you do go with vinyl overlays. They are on ebay and make a real good product for cheap.

I am reconsidering and thinking about getting new Headlights all together because I do not want to open my stock housing up because it will never seal perfectly again and I dont want crappy looking tint or vinyl after a month being rocks bounce off headlight pretty hard at 90mph on highway so I may vinyl tailights and get aftermarket headlights not sure now....
