Wonder how much more expensive the car would be with all this. Hey, a man can dream can't he?

the VQ37HR with improved mileage for the sport models

a 6 speed option for the sport models

all automatic windows

a rear entertainment system for the premium models

power folding mirrors

auto-sending wipers

dual auto-dimming mirrors

heated/cooled front and rear seats

Anything else?

What do you think about adding rear wheel drive (I think I know why they don't cuz it's on the G class).

that'd be interesting. I know many people would want that but yeah I bet they won't do that or the 3.7 liter engine cause of the Z's and G's. I was hard pressed to find things to put on this list...I love the car

Hmmm, A fwd based AWD system would be awesome, coupled with a better tuned 3.5L breaking 300 horses. Nissan is NEVER gonna put rwd, or a 3.7 in the Maximas for obvious reasons. The last thing they want is the Maxima biting into the G37's sales.

We already have all auto up/down windows...
The older maxima's had power folding mirrors - I would go for that!
I love the heated/cooled driver seat - they need to atleast put it in both front seats.
auto dim all around for sure!
rain-sensing wipers would be sweet too!

I personally would want...
*better supporting seats - like the ones in the G37 Sport
*heated windshield
*a true tech package (lane departure warning, distance cruise control)
*I dream of getting Heads-Up display back! I had it in a Pontiac Grand Prix and it truly was the best thing ever!

Since we're dreaming then here goes:

First of all the Maxima is too sexy looking of a car for Nissan not to have it as a coupe option, this car begs for 2 door X 4 seat configurization personalization.

We need an AWD option with either a 7 speed Auto or a 6 speed manual and it needs an option for a Diesel model on the 3.5 or 3.7 rated at about 400hp.

A 2 door convertible option with the body shape it has now wouldn't be bad at all but that may be taking it too far.

The smart folding vents in the grille they put in the new Ford Fiestas, that close at higher speeds to improve fuel efficiency. And standard Xenon foglights

TPMS that reads the tire pressure.
LED DRLs
Better sounding stereo.
Ability to unlock door by just pulling the handle rather than pushing the button. (I know I sound lazy lol)
Sportier exhaust sound similar to the G/FX.

A dream Maxima but here it goes,
Call it a Maxima R and have AWD 3.8 V6 Twin Turbo pushing 480hp from old GTR engine and dual clutch transmission with a properly sport tuned suspension.

You've seen the new Maxima ads right? Where they stretch the Z into a Maxima? Pause it right before he stretches it into a 4 door Maxima and you'll see your 2 door Max. Looks awesome.

They really need to make the 6spd manual a custom order option. And only offer it with the Sport Package.

They should but with the very slow sales of the 6 spds in the 5.5 and 6th gen it wont happen, the custom cost to you would be veryyyy high to incorporate that into the line for so few cars. As far as the 3.7 goes, it will not see this gen Maxima as it has already been stated that the motor cannot fit into the engine bay of the Max for various reasons. Now a version of the 3.5HR motor would be good for the 7.5 gen but with all the concentration on fuel economy it may not happen. Would be good to see how this car performs with the 7spd auto although!

Yea, Nissan really is running out of possibilites for the Maxima. There really is nothing else they can put in, well there is but they wont do it. I have yet to drive a 7 spd auto, I have a chrysler 200 rental car with the new 6 spd auto and I must say, I really miss the non-shifting in the Maxima. I would have to drive the 7at b4 I pass judgement.

I hear ya, go test drive a G37 or 370z. The 7spd has its quirks just like any tranny, but in all out accelleration it is great Sg. It matches great to the VQ.

7speed is a great trans, but the CVT and the 7AT have overlapping qualities, at certain times, I can't tell the difference between the 2, the 7AT does have better take offs and launches, but that is the same as having a hole in the gas tank

A beefier CVT, less restrictive torque management by the TCM and ECM, more torque steer control to offset the first two items for starters. Steering could use more effort to turn at low speed with better on-center steering feel. All these are just refinements as not much needs to be different, imo. Options should be ala carte rather than packaged in a perfect world as we prefer the cloth seats but would like to have the monitor package and it is unavailable in the S series. The Maxima still offers the best balance in the industry of power, comfort, handling and price. I drove a loaded Accord and it feels like a tin can with a lot of road noise and costs about the same as my Maxima S.

No not to test drive, 18 yrs old. Old enough to be able to enter into a legally binding contract so that they know you can seriously buy a car! Seeing that you have a Max already, they know you could afford the Z!

No orange lights on the interior.
LED trunk lights, interior lights, and tag lights (like that of the Lexus lineup)
City Lights in the headlights (like that of an Audi / Mercedes)
6 Speed Manual
A/C front seats (I live in FL, ugh)

I am very happy with my Maxima and have already done the LED light swap myself, but would love the city lights (may look at buying some in the future). Really only OEM thing I'd want is the a/c'd seats and definitely the 6MT!!!! RWD would be dope, too.

Thats good to know! All the salesman there know me bc I always wander the showroom when my car is being serviced lol. They know I like to look around but the way I see it is, I bought a 40k car from them, and they make money off me when I take it there for service (I dont go to any other Nissan dealers besides theres). They should do this to keep me happy lol.

Wish List:

6sp manual and/or 7 or 8 speed DSG style transmission with sport package
Sport package offered with slightly more aggressive front and rear bumper
Sport package dropped 3/4-1 inch lower for more aggressive stance
Stock wheels with more aggressive offset so they are slightly more flush
More bolstered front seats in sport package
LED daytime running lamps
LED Interior lights
changeable color interior lights (my keyboard can do it, why not the interior)
More powerful and better stereo
wi-fi capable so it can sync to home DNLA server for media
Monitor/Nav packages can play .mkv or MP4 video formats
Sport package with more aggressive exhaust note
AWD
Bigger/better brakes
3.7L VQ

ALL FOUR windows ARE automatic up/down in the Premium package. I don't think Nissan will put this feature on the back windows in the lower-priced versions of the Maxima, because they want to keep the Maxima entry-level price below competing vehicles.

Nissan will have the same engine set up the same way in all versions of the Maxima. This greatly simplifies things. This is not a high-volume car, so an engine variation would add to overhead and costs.

But if Nissan DID put a different engine setup in the Sport Package, it would be slanted toward performance, and would actually get LESS MPG than the non-Sports versions.

Yes, we can dream. I do that frequently. But there is no way Nissan can afford to have a coupe version of a vehicle with such a low production volume at a price close to what the Maxima is selling for. Altima? Yes. Nissan tries to sell 250,000 Altimas each year. But the Maxima is now a limited production volume vehicle, with only around 70K made each year.

That is also why a convertible version will not be forthcoming, either.

We can forget the 7 speed auto or 6 speed manual. We may enjoy those trannies, but they are not as fuel-efficient as the new Maxima CVT, and Nissan is facing very tough fleet fuel efficiency requirements in the near future (2015 models). Also, having two types of trannies means dealers have to have twice as many Maximas on the lot if they wish to cover all variations. And most Nissan dealers have long-since run out of lot space with the current 18(?) different Nissan vehicles.

If Nissan is to make a major variation of the Maxima, it will not be a nostalgic step backward to a shifting tranny or coupe; it will be something progressive and constructive, such as a fuel-efficient diesel or a type of hybrid.

If the decision is made to have a diesel, it will be nowhere near 400 HP. Diesels are not noted for high HP, especially the fuel-efficient ones. But high HP is not necessary with a diesel, because a 290 HP diesel will normally have over 400 foot pounds of torque, and that is around 140 more foot pounds of torque than our 290 HP Maxima gasoline engines.

Maybe add mood lighting that remains on whenever the headlights are on, change up the instrument cluster backlighting and add the ability to transfer mp3s to the hard drive.
