How to open the dash on 09 Max with Navi

Sorry if this info is somewhere else in the forum, I searched around and wasn't able to find anything.

How do you open up the dash on the 09 Max? I need to get into the dash to the area around the factory stereo and wasn't sure what to start with.

This is perfect - thank you. Hell while I'm at it might as well do the DVD bypass as well, that **** is annoying.

What tool did you use to pop the plastic trim? You have a little kit like this gay looking thing or you make something yourself? http://ultimatetoolco.com/panelpopperkit.aspx

you can use a plastic trim tool or a rather thin flat head with some tape on it, to pop the trim off.

Do you know what area I'm pulling on to pop the trim off? I understand these require some effort so don't want to pull on the wrong thing too hard..

I started in the top right hand corner on top and pried it there to get it started... and then moved to the top left side and then just popped them the rest of the way out... It take A LOT of effort. More than I thought. I actually used a flat head screw driver with tape and a piece of cardboard because the clips were so tight that it was bending my popping tool. Dont be scared, you will deform the soft dash surrounding the piece you are removing but it will return to its shape in a matter of seconds.

No I dont think you can... Unless you have the RGB hook ups in the center console, or the NAV in the Dash that plays DVDs.

DO NOT FOLLOW MY DIRECTIONS! That is for NON NAVIGATION.

Is this where you are talking about starting with prying?

And below, are these edges that I marked with red arrows where I'll also have to pry to? Is this whole face piece around the Nav a single unit that comes off with the AC vents attached to it and everything?

Yes... Once u get the top popped a bit you can just start on one side and pull it out going around that piece... Yes it all comes off as one piece... Then you will undo 2 screws and pop out the bottom "wood piece" the stereo will be behind it. It's held with 4 screws...

No sweat, thanks for the clarification. As you might imagine I'm a little hesitant to go and start tugging on things on my dash.
