Question Oil filters spill oil when changed?

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone else has run into an issue with their oil filters spilling oil when they change them? My first 2 changes were normal with nothing coming out of the filter when changing them. Ever since then when the oil filter is removed after fulling draining from the plug it spills maybe 1/3rd quart of oil all over my garage. I'm using Mobile 1 filters which i've never had this issue with before on multiple cars.

there really isnt a reason for that bro.....

but yeah since the filter on our car is sideways it will spill out quite a bit of oil while unscrewing it .....just get that oil catch bucket and put it under the filter.....just make sure you drain the oil from the oil pan before you take the filter off.....

happens to me every time i do a oil change

Usually though it doesn't POUR out in half a second before i can flip the filter upright though. Even on my 350 with a horizontal filter i never even needed an oil pan to remove the filter after the car had been drained. It's a quick unscrew and flip and throw in the box the new filter came in. I'm surprised everyone finds it's normal to get that much oil spilling out of the filter actually. Maybe i'm just crazy *shrugs*

You can alway use a zip lock bag, break the filter loose, put the bag over the filter, unscrew the filter, let all the oil go into the bag, zip it closed, no more oil all over the place,
