Engine Cover Off

So I took off the engine cover as I wanted to see the entire engine and get rid of the eye candy. I put the two bolts back into the intake as it looks like they go directly through the intake.

A few less pounds in the front of the car can hurt. Have others done this? Just curious.

Post a pic. Haven't taken mine off yet. Some engines look great with covers off, others not so much. I remember my G8GT had a huge engine cover, but the kicker was, underneath was a thick rubber pad to keep noise down. That and a ton of heat in I'm sure. Looked great without it though so it stayed off.

I also took the cover to the left off as well. It would be nice to see fluid levels.

will this not affect the cooling of the engine.

That depends. You could argue that taking the cover off allows less heat to be trapped close to the engine. The hood blanket looks to be thick enough to handle the heat so you don't destroy the paint on the hood.

How much engineering goes into that cover? I assume some to make sure it does not melt but I would assume it's main purpose is eye candy. (Based on how thick it is, noise suppression would also be a consideration)

I also understand that engines today are designed to run optimally at certain temperatures (Hot) but I doubt the cover will significantly impact the overall temperature of the engine.
