Will this mod void the factory warranty? Will I have to reinstall the VIAS every time I take it in for service?

I have these on my Christmas list as well as a K&N Typhoon.

Great write-ups Ghozt and MiDiablo! I'm a techie and not a wrench turner but feel very confident I can do this in my garage thanks to your very detailed posts.

^^^ Dude and Intake can void your warranty, if it is up to the dealer, LOL. I doubt this will void you warranty but dealers are finnicky and can blame anything.

I just installed mine. I usually take all my mods to my buddy that owns a shop but i figured what the heck. Took me about an hour from start to finish. The plates are in a tight spot.

I just drove to work and feel like the engine has more "throat" to it. Also the 60-100 pulls seem strong. I hope the mpg will increase as some have stated.

Has anybody tried this without this step? "Supposedly" makes me just a little wheezy about doing this. In another post someone said they only noticed the change after one tank of gas when they figured the ECU reset. Well if it is going to reset on its own anyway, why do we need to disconnect the negative terminal and reset manually?

you're probably okay with not resetting the ECU, over time it will learn your driving habits and average them in with your driving habits from before. btw unplugging the negative terminal of a car is not detrimental (unless you touch the negative/positive at the same time), in fact it's a very common fix for simple electrical issues.

I did not reset mine and drove through a tank of gas, about 11 days. Today even my wife said...wow...then again she thinks 75 is fast...

shipped

You should think about pairing these with my 7th gen thermal intake spacers. They go hand in hand with each other

Thanks

Just got my BOP's for Christmas. Put them in today along with a R2C intake. After reading the write up here, I was thinking that maybe this could be difficult being that the OP explained so many steps. The intake and BOP's took me about an hour and a half to install. The write up on here is EVERY step and I appreciate the OP being so detailed!

That being said, reset the ECU and took my car for a drive. WOW. You can really feel this combination. And it gives the engine a nice throaty sound when you get on it. I will be installing Cory's "Thermal Phenolic Spacers" next. I wanted to do these separately and so I could really judge the difference. I will post here as soon as I do.

Update on the Thermal Phenolic Spacers. These are a perfect compliment to the BOP's. The BOP's were real nice by themselves but when I installed the spacers, the sound of the engine was enhanced nicely. I can't say exact horsepower gained but you can feel the difference with just the BOP's and then you can feel it again after adding the spacers. I would recommend doing both together!

Cory, when are you going to let us in on your next mod for our cars? HEADERS?! maybe?
Pretty cool that gains are felt even without a CAI or exhaust. I currently only have the CXJ phenolic spacers installed on my engine. I'm trying to persuade myself to do this mod.

I'm thinking that the power gains are due to the fact that more space is available in the engine allowing for a greater air volume in the intake manifold.

Correct?

the intake spacers work because yeah they add air volume + a slight reduction in temps. the BOP's work by bypassing a butterfly valve (that is normally only fully open at wide open throttle as I understand it).
