Did they say how much of the wiring was different than the 2012 models during installation? I'm interested in doing this mod to my 2010 max also.

I just read through the PDF install for the Nissan puddle lights. Seems like a PITA to wire up. I would think that it would be easier to just tap into the footwell lights as mentioned elsewhere on this thread. Would there be a reason not to?

That is exactly what I did. It is still working 6 months later.
What I used was:
Two 6inch led strips per side, (1 front, 1 rear area) and four 1inch led strips (2 on each side plastic fastener in the recessed areas)

This option would be the cat's meow by LEDs under the rear bumper, too.

I'm actually working on that... Except it is too cold outside to work on it.
I have LED under body reverse lights and DRLS installed, just need to wait for warmer weather before I make changes.
