2009 Max Nissan

My 2009 Max has had issues not starting .....never liked this FOB idea.
First it was the battery.....then ultimately it just would not start with only light would come up on the Dashboard was no Key. Initially, the AAA tow guy said 75% of the time it is a problem with the FOB. WE CHECKED BOTH OF MY FOBs and NO start. We dragged it to the Nissan Dealership and I was paranoid they would rip me off....anytime they see a Woman $$$$$!

The Service guy said they would check out the Maxi in the morning as I arrived late in the day ( I was stuck int the Garage for 4 Hours )!
I went home and immediately Google this issue and found this forum. So I had heads up.

Yep, sure enough the next day the Dealer started up my car. They could not recreate the no start issue. I pitched a *****...with the Customer Advocate....cuz I am paranoid about Dealerships ripping Women off!
Later that day they called and said they would keep it over once again. And if it starts up....they would just go ahead and replace the lock Start, on WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS 68k.

They replaced the Lock Start Mechanism NO CHARGE.

Where there is smoke there is Fire. Smells like a RECALL ISSUE to me!

BTW I ASKED THEM TO CHECK ALL FUSES.

Glad you got it fixed.... By the way it has turned into a TSB... soft version of a recall!

So do you think preventive actions should be taken and go have it fixed by dealer? My dealer probably would even know what im talking about if I went there explaining it

Any also do we know up to what years have this issue?

So is this for just 2009's or all 7th gen's? I have a 2010 and a 2014 and want to know if this will affect us in the future. Thanks.

BTW, if you have the problem where your fob is dead, and your windows are down. You can actually use the physical key in the fob to get the windows back up. Insert the key and turn counter-clockwise (lock direction), and to open them turn unlock direction and hold.

Altima 2012

I bought a 2012 Altima from USA and shipped it to UAE, For 2 years it was fine but suddenly i have having a similar issue that is discussed here. In 2012 Altima there is no Steering lock actuator but it does show the same key indication. The car goes from Lock-Acc-On by it wont crank. Some times it works some time it does not. What I should do please suggest.
