Hey guys-
Maybe I'm missing something but I did a search and there's a couple different posts about getting the exterior door handles off. I also have the manual and it's a little vague. Supposedly it's easy? I took off the black grommet on the door and loosened the #30 Torx screw and I still can get the little piece on the door handle to come off. Anyone have an idea what is up? I am pulling the handle out and then pulling on the small piece and it's loose but it won't come out. I don't want to pry on it or anything. Is it just really hard to pull it off?

quoted from another thread - removing the handles is VERY easy! Open the door and there is a black plastic plug in the door jams (looks like a button almost) it is at the same height at the handles. Pull that plug and inside is a torque bolt, loosen the bolt and the smaller piece of the handle will come off. The bolt stays in place as it is designed not to come all the way out. Once that small piece is off just slide the larger piece (the piece you actually grab) forward and pull outward slightly. The back ones take about 1 - 2 mins cuz there's no wires. The front handles have a "cap" handle that just snaps on/off. You will leave the actual metal manual key lock on the driver door. Thanks for the reply Ghozt. I did read that thread and that's what made me think it was so easy. Mine are not coming off after doing exactly that. I'm just trying to get the opinion of anyone who has already done it to see if it takes a lot of force to get them off after loosening the screw.

 

Not hard at all.. I had the same issue when I did mine and learned to kind of wiggle the smaller part and she should pop right out.. Hope this helps

Apparently I suck at life... I still can't get these things to pop. I'm almost ready to take the door panel off to see why. Can anyone do a quick video of them taking them off so I can actually see it happen? I feel like a total failure not being able to do something this easy. (even though I did BOP's, Spacers, Intake and UDP on my own.)

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just attempted this just for future reference when I get them painted. I unscrewed the screw completely wiggled wiggled wiggled an wiggled some more and it won't give. Is there another step I'm missing, or are my handles retard proof

 

Just keep turning the screw. It won't fall out.

 

I gotcha, I thought I turned it all the way. Ill give it another go later

 

So I'm trying to remove my front driver side door handle (little plastic clip broke that holds the chrome piece snug, so now it rattles). Since the "actual metal manual key lock" stays in the door, the handle that you grab isn't able to slide back and come out. Anyone know how to get the front driver door handle off???

Had to watch a few YouTube videos to get them off also, automatically assumed I had to take the inside door panel, which I did and couldn't figure it out. Here comes my wife who was sitting there watching me drinking some wine and YouTube'd it for me lol. Came out great though, I ended up buying some stuff similar to plasti dip, Rust-oleum, used that first, and then I went over them with a black gloss paint, used them on the grille to.
