Install gone wrong...
So tonight, I attempted to install the Upac-Nis2 on my maxima. I followed the instructions for the 2011 navigation bypass to remove the radio fascia and get to the wires for the install. All was going well until i attempted to remove the front of the carbon fiber trim that was connected to the buttons. The install instructions said to remove the "two black screws, pull the stop of the trim off, and then remove the bottom part of the trim. There are 4 snaps attatching the trim to the radio." This is where the install instructions differ for the 2011 Maxima S with amber screen. I pulled and pulled until it finally came off. Only i didnt know it was not supposed to come off, at least not the way i did it...
I broke 2 screws, bent the bottom part of the radio, and now the buttons wont even work... And on top of that, i still dont even know if the upac works cause my radio buttons dont work to test it... In addition to all of that, I just searched the radio, and apparently its a $600 radio on courtesyparts.com. So basically i just shot my radio attempting an install, followed incorrect instructions for my car, and have to get a new radio. I didnt want to install a double din down low, but i may end up doing that now if i gotta spend 600$ on a radio...

There's a good chance that your radio is still good. You'll just need to carefully look at everything, and put it back together properly. The only thing is if you yanked the face right off, then you might have broken a date ribbon....which is a big problem, but if you know of any electronics repair shops....they might have a replacement.
Wow that sucks man. Hope you get through it. I remember the time I wanted to tint my own tail lights but I ended up chipping it. I was so mad I wanted to throw it across the street. I know how you feel.
actually i do need it. either that, or a good suggestion for an aftermarket double din radio thats around 600. As for the ribbon cable, i think its just barely intact. The real issue is there is a connector thats on the back of the faceplate that connects to the radio, and thats all jacked up. Im trying to decide if its even worth putting another stock radio in it vs an aftermarket one since i have to replace it anyways...
