Has anyone had a problem with the muffler tips paint flaking off (on the inside of the tip on the bottom)? The bottom of my tip is flaking like crazy. So now it looks like the inside of the muffler tip is silver instead of black. Mine is a '11 with 5K. I'm not sure something like this would be covered under warranty since it is an exhaust component... I thought about using some black high-temp paint to touch it up... I will post pics later so everyone knows what I am talking about.

My '10 is doing the same thing. I had the same idea about the hi-temp paint.

i dont see why it wouldnt be covered under warranty, your exhaust tips aren't "wear and tear" parts that you replace regularly. id call Nissan and see what they say about repainting them for you

I noticed mine when I was washing the car with the garden hose. I am going to mention it during my next oil change. Maybe they will replace them...

yeah i can see them looking worn down the road but not so early in the game. worst case you can clean them up tape them off and spray with some high temp matte black

Nissan never puts stainless on their stock exhaust. It's probably chrome cause when I wash mine, I see rust coming off where the welds are but IDK I might be wrong. Best to go with Ghozt's solution or buy an after-market tip. This off off topic but since we are talking about exhausts, I'm hoping in 2013, that Greddy makes an after-market exhaust system for our cars. I want mine to sound like this...

This is a well know issue, that has been around since 2009.

Here is my write-up on how I fixed the issue.:
