Painted the headlights ant tails...

I just got done painting the headlights on my MAX and I have to say that was one of the easiest lights I separated and painted..They separated very smoothly, I think I had them in the oven for 12 minutes on 200 and they came apart...I also painted my grill and vht'd the taillights...I will post some pics today...

On another note, I will be painting my headlights either this weekend or next and had a question for those that have painted their out there:

Does the chrome housing around the projector actually work as a reflector for the light at all? I want to paint the entire chrome surrounding the projector, but I don't want to get in trouble come inspection time for that chrome being painted.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does vht'd stand for? I'm not familiar with that term.

I think I'm going to pick up some taillight tinting paint and tint the orange reflector while I have my headlights apart, and maybe look into tinting the tails as well.

You will pass inspection it doesn't do anything as far as reflecting light. You can buy colored ones from places online. I know TheRetroFitSource.com was talking about these being available from them.

Ahh yes, vht does appear to be a brand of spray on tint.

Thanks for the response, and thank you for the response about the projector housing as well!

Preheat oven 200...Hold the headlight in there for 15 minutes and they come right apart....Put the headlights back in oven for 10 minutes after I was done painting and put them back together took about 1 hour to do both...Of course it took me 2 hours just to get them off of the car...
