Rocking Seat Problem

I have seen this discussed here before and I imagine some folks are just luckier than others. Unfortunately for me, I fall into the unlucky bracket.

I had my driver seat "fixed" 3 times and still the seat rocks. The service department refuses to do anything else about it and compared the seat to other Maximas on their lot and came to the conclusion that it's normal.

My fix for the problem.... placed a cotton towel in-between the seat and center console. It's about 90% fixed.

How sad is that? A $30 grand car and a simple towel to fix a rocking seat problem.

Go Nissan! Yeah right.

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Mine is exactly the same. You sir have way more patience than I do. I can't seem to NOT notice it. Every time I break, anticipate a rock forward, quite annoying.

But, the towel in-between the seat and center console is helping.

well mine is very slight, i only notice it if im not moving in the car and i forcibly try to lean back or lean forward. kinda curious if this is the onset and it gets worse over time.

what was the fix Nissan did for you? new driver side seat bracket entirely?

surprised a towel on the side is doing that much, i wonder where the problem is

For me, it did get worse over time.

They "fixed" it by replacing the seat rack.

The towel in the side of the seat just keeps the seat from rocking forward.

From what I can tell, there's a hinge under the seat that isn't tight enough to keep the seat from rocking, it's as if it gets loose over time and perhaps just needs to be tightened. If I knew how to take apart the seat, I would happily investigate it.

If someone out there knows where I can learn about taking the seat apart, I would greatly appreciate the info. Thanks

Mine is starting to do it too, if you do take the seat off remember to disconnect the battery to prevent an airbag problem. Even though you will still get an srs light to come on.

Thanks for the heads up.

What exactly is the air bag problem?

A friend of mine took his seat of without disconnecting the battery and had to have the dealer reset the module, he could just reset it him self.

yeah, mine has this rock. The other 09 I tested had this rock, too. It doesn't bother me too much, but if it gets worse, I'll talk to my dealership about it
