Lol I'm sure it's because of that low tire pressure light! If it was full u might get 139 or 140.

buy a uprev tuner kit off of me and you will be able to get the needle over 160 =)
ill show u how to datalog the car and ill retune it for you.

i sell the tuner kit for about 500-550 depending on how many tunes u want

my car without a uprev actually went above 150 (because the headers made my top end much much better) i guess it told the ecu (ef the governer) who knows

It may appear you are going that fast but you arent. Speedometers are not acurate when going that fast.

Test it on a track. See what your speedo says then have someone with a radar gun. I bet they will be different at speeds above 100

I bet they won't!!!!! Speedometer's are calibrated up to the max speed of the car since 1974!!

all aesthetics and no power mods lol what do you expect? i think 4th gen with a y pipe-back can do that... get some headers, its where you get the most ponies for the vq35. you'll get a few more mph and it'll get there a lot quicker

max speed as in governed max speed. If a speedometer shows higher than the governed speed the speedo is off. Or do you think the ecu is off?

As Brian O"Connor would say "I need NOS. My car topped out at 140 miles per hour, this morning."

147Mph...

When you reach 130Mph drop from 6th gear to 5th and your car will keep on going ;-). Took a while to get there tho. At least 1 good thing about this car it can go over 150Mph

You are all very foolish to travel at those speeds in anything other than a full race car. Now I'm going to get back to my patients in the ICU.

try braking quickly from 140 mph and you'll see why this 3600 pound car needs a BBK in addition to many other things before it should go that fast. i have fun with my car but hitting speeds like this is kinda batsh!t insane guys, thats a one-shot ticket to either killing somebody or losing your license. only slow people speed on anything but a track..

Like I said, I can't believe the mods are letting this stay around.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Unless you're posting top speeds from a closed runway/track/etc, leave this kind of stuff on the down low...

If anyone discusses ROAD RACING again (and some PM's were sent), will be getting a temp ban so they can take the time and REVIEW the rules of this forum to which you agreed to when you signed on.

You can discuss racing AT THE TRACK, you can show your time slips, whatever. But the minute you mention that you are an idiot and doing it on public highways and flaunting the laws of the state, country and flaunting the rules of MAXIMA.ORG, you will be getting a vacation.

Does "racing" or just speeding on a former airport will get you banned? I mean technically its not a public place and its not a race track.

Hello all. New here and this is my first post. I just got a 2009 maxima about a month ago. My maxima is governed at exactly 130. If accelerating and time a hill right it will carry to 133 but cuts out at 130. Why is my governer set lower than others posted? This was using speedo, gps escort 9500ix and gps iPhone confirmed. Sorry, forgot to add this was not on a public road! Newbie

Don't go over 100 unless you're on a strip fools do you understand that your maxima will end up like a coffee can in a trash compactor and you will be inside of it mashed up like a piece of playdough?

So 100 is the magic number? The weak point of the car is the tire speed rating which is well above 100. If a stock production car from more than 50 years ago can safely go over 100 I'm selling this car ASAP if over 100 is dangerous .
The car is unsafe at high speed crash? I was in a BMW 325xi that hit ice and flipped bounced off 2 medians at speed. Kicked the passenger door open and climbed out. Had a little burn mark on my wrist from an airbag. Are bmws that much safer than a Nissan?

going and a hundred and crash the right way most cars can split in half etc easily. seat belts and all those safety features dont matter. might help keeping ur body in one piece though.

Noone said you can't go over 100 safely anyone can do that all day but say you do need to stop short you might get down to what? 80? Tough to live through that. Point is just chill this isn't F&F. You might even avoid a ridiculous speeding ticket.

One day the youngsters will get it, life is more important than road racing. Getting enough tickets will keep your speed down. Lets hope you don't kill a someone first on a public road going 100+ mph. Be safe folks. You never know who is going to wreck your life with there car.

Perhaps you should read this thread over again carefully.

This thread has absolutely NOTHING to do with Maxima vs BMW. The word 'Maxima' is used because this is a Maxima board. But the things being said here about speed apply to ALL PASSENGER SEDANS OF ALL MAKES. At speeds over 100, the BMW may be neither more nor less safe than the Maxima. At such speeds, the outcome of any mishap depends on luck. Citing one particular incident as proof of anything shows a complete lack of understanding of the principles of both science and common sense.

Driving at speed on closed tracks is safer than driving on public roads, but at speeds such as 100 MPH and up, a blown tire on a BMW or Jaguar or Benz can kill us just as dead as a blown tire on a Maxima.

As for tires, the 2009 Maxima comes with tires that are speed rated 'V', which means they are intended for use on a loaded passenger car at speeds up to 149 MPH. Drivers wishing to go faster are free to replace the tires with 'Z', 'W' or 'Y' rated tires.

As to the top speed of cars, this is usually regulated by some sort of governing device, NOT by the potential top speed of the particular car. This governing offers some limited protection to the driving public from total maniacs who would do 200 MPH on public freeways if their car would let them.

PS - As general info, Consumer Reports says recent BMWs are not handling nearly as well as BMWs of the past. And BMW's reliability has dropped to 'much worse than average.' The Maxima is rated very well in both those two important categories.

Focusing on topic, my stock car did reach more than that even with my 19' rims.

I did this on a close circuit by the way just for the record lol before anyone attacks me.

In the pic it shows 242kph (150mph). I had reached bit more than that on the same circuit on a colder day.
