Winter Tires for Maxima w/Sport
Winter Tires for Maxima w/Sport
Hey guys, i recently traded in my 2010 G37x for the 2012 Maxima with sport pkg. I have a set of Winter tires and rims from the G, and just want to make sure they will fit. Wheel spec for the winters are 5 x 114, 225/50/17.
Stock tires on the Max are 245/40/19. Will i be ok running the G's snows on the Max?
thanks

BLUF, I HIGHLY recommend Continental DWS!
Before my Max I had a BMW 335i with JB4 (350 whp and 340 ftlb torque). I lived in Virginia and Rhode Island, drove back and forth to Chicago in the winters and never once had even a close call. Those tires are unbelievable year round. Their only downfall is that they do not corner as well as Summers (obviously) and only a couple all seasons beat them in corners. I would venture to guess even fewer beat them in rain and snow. Although they are slightly squishy in turns, I would bet a good sum of money 99% of people driving a Maxima wouldn't find that limit.
Currently I'm focuses on other mods like tint, clear bra, stillen lip, etc.. As soon as I'm happy with the looks of my Max I will be investing in another set!

IIRC, for my '03 max, a lot of people did the 6th gen brake upgrade. The 17" SE wheels would clear, but the 00-01 17" wheels would not.....or something like that.
I dont have an answer for you OP, but if you could post more specific info on the wheels, there might be some info out there.
Or since you have the wheels, jack up your car and try them out. Thats the only way to know for sure!
I have General Altimax winter tires on 17" rims and this car will go almost anywhere relative to it's ride height and snow depth. I actually plowed snow one day last winter.
I was wondering about the stock steel spare wheel, one would think you could find these cheap somewhere out there?
I bought my 17" aluminum 5 spokes along wirh the Altimax tires from Tire Rack. I think I paid something like $79 for the wheels. They clear the breaks but just bearly.
Hey Raj didn't realize I were the one posting the original question..
Ya I got the steel rims from Canadian tire last winter with the good year Nordics on them. The steel wheels were multi fit and the 17" rims are fine with the front calipers on my 2010...
Hope it helps!

Currently reside in Edmonton Alberta and with winter coming up its that time of year again. Have recently just purchased a bright silver 12 max premium/tech and just seeing what tires you folks have put on during those cold months. Mind you weather up here can go from -10 to -30 ish. All helpful info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hey guys,
I'm sure they will fit fine on your ride.
I'm actually using my old 17" rims off my 95 Chevy Monte Carlo that I had kicking around still.. See a pic on this thread that I started http://forums.maxima.org/tires-wheel...loys-077s.html
I've researched it a little for winter tires and most site are recommending 215 or 225/55/17 winter tires. I also live in Ontario, Canada and today I made the plunge a little early to purchase winter tires and I'm going with Nokian Hakka R winter tires. I had the Hakks on my old car before and found them to be excellent winter tires and even when people were stuck in the snow and they had winter tires, I've always plowed by them in my old car. So I decided to stick with the same brand. I really wanted the Hakka 7's but they don't make then in studless tires, I was tempted to just buy them and use them as I use my car daily for work and so forth but didn't want to take the risk of getting ticketed. Anyway the thread design on the Hakks R is a little different from the 7's. We will see how they go. All together it is costing me a little over 1000.00 bucks for these tires.
