Viper 5704 Battery Drainage Issues

Has anyone else been having problems with the new DB-R modules that Viper uses? I am having issues with the alarm draining my battery. This has happened to me via an overnight instance, and now when I left my vehicle at home for a week. DEI is saying that I need to buy some solar panel garbage and display it in my windshield so that the alarm doesn't keep draining my battery.

This is complete crap to me, since I ran the Viper 791XV in my previous car for over four years, and I would leave my car parked at home for months at a time and it didn't drain anything (same 2 way technology).

Since this is the second time that this has happened, I am seriously considering having the alarm removed from my car.

Any suggestions for those of you who have the alarm on your 7th Gen with no issues?

I have a 5902, don't have this issue. Solar panel thing sounds like a crap solution; they should make their equipment not kill the battery...what good is an alarm if the car is dead...

The technology is not the same as the older 791xv. I personally have had both these systems installed in multiple vehicles without any issues.

Are you talking about the DB-ALL module? I've never heard of a DB-R module and i've been in the installing game for a while.

The longest I've left my car was 9 days and it was fine when I went to start it.

I would assume that you are correct with the name "DR-ALL," I was told over the phone so it could have been misconstrued. I had to disconnect one of the wires just to even jump the car since the module wouldn't allow the car to start with the settings being erased from the reset. This is so annoying.

Sounds like a ****ty install. The module shouldn't keep the car from starting but I could be wrong.

now if you want to talk about settings erased? ive had my Viper erase itself 3 times and need to go back to the installer to re-program it. apparently the dumbass thing doesnt have a watch battery on it anywhere to save the settings if you d/c it from the battery, or at least the way mine is working..

Mine is the same way, if the battery disconnects or loses power, then the DB-ALL will not retain the settings. Also, you can't jump the car if this happens without removing the remote start wiring to the module. I am seriously questioning this install.

Both sound like bad installs. I was working on my car yesterday and the battery went dead (not completely, but the car wouldn't crank and I put a jump box on it and it started (using the remote start) and all seems fine.

Which module are you using? The problem that we are having with the DB-ALL still persists. There is one wire that is keeping my lights on entirely too long, and when I hit lock/unlock, it is activating the movement of the steering wheel and seat before I open the door.

DEI is trying to tell the installer to have me keep my lights in the OFF position to prevent the drainage, but I told them no. My lights are going to stay in auto, and if they can't get around that, to just remove the alarm completely.

I'm using the DB-ALL as well but mine is flashed with the older firmware. I noticed they released a newer firmware version at the end of November....when did you get it installed?

Thanx for your help, it was the latest firmware for the DB-ALL. They replaced the module with one from a company called "Omega?" I just had this changed yesterday morning, and so far so good. If my battery dies again this week, its coming out.

No problems. could be an issue with the latest firmware. I know the wiring is completely different so maybe there something funky going on that they didn't notice...

Don't use the D-BALL. From several experiences that module on Maximas suck. Switch that out for the FL Can. Only DBall that works pretty good on Maximas are the ones that are version 3.53

I have been using the module made by Omega for almost a week now, and no issues yet.

I've had my DBALL in my max since Oct. 2011 and never had an issue.
