Just purchased a new Maxima, have a question
So I just purchased a 2012 Nissan Maxima brand new (had 8 miles on it) and I love the car but did notice one thing the other day when I was on Blue Tooth and the air was blowing low and not making much sound. Whenever I hit a bump there is a rattle that sounds like it's coming from right behind the navigation system. I tried to pinpoint where it was coming from but could not. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Note: it drives very smooth and I hear nothing when driving on the interstate but when I am on a bumpy road if I have the radio down I hear rattling around the Navigation system. Everything also seems very secure after I checked it and nothing seems lose.
I have the navigation and a sunroof but the sound does not sound like it's coming from the sunroof.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! On a side note I LOVE the car.

Is air blowing through the air vent equally? I had a similar issue with my Charger and one of the actuators went back that control the blender doors. Replaced it and no more noise and the airflow was back to normal. Some others had issues with the blender doors themselves. Most have plastic teeth and could get off track or strip. However, with 8 miles, you wouldn't think that would be your issue.
Not trying to say that there isn't anything wrong with your car. But this is a very rattle prone car. This is the first "nice" car I've purchased and I've been very dissapointed with the rattles / squeaks after 34k miles of ownership.
When I developed a rattle in the center portion of my dash, I tried several things. Finally, I found that stuffing a rather fluffy cotton sock between the bottom of the center dash array and the console below ended the rattle. This told my tech exactly where to look.
If this works for you, but you can't get the car to your dealer anytime soon, then use a dark colored sock so nobody will even notice it is there.

My car is messing with me, I scheduled a service appointment with my dealership for this morning at 7 am. Woke up early and drove the car there before work not thinking about it and get there and take a tech for a ride only to notice the rattle is gone. Tell them I guess it was something I had in a cupholder or something then I go to work never hearing a rattle. I leave work for lunch and the rattle is back... UGH lol. It is sounding like it's around the plastic piece where the air conditioner controls are but I will definitely try the sock trick mentioned above. I don't think it ever rattles in the morning (I keep it in the garage) but I believe it usually does at lunch and in the evenings when it's been sitting outside.
I had a "clicking" coming from behind the NAV a couple of days after I got my Maxima. It seems to be more towards the passenger side as well. The odd thing was, it only did it first thing in the morning and not in the afternoon. I took a shot video of it and emailed it to the dealer. They suggested that it was possibly an issue with one of the blender doors. I typically leave the airflow ondash level. The next morning, right after I started it, I changed the airflow setting to the floor and drove it halfway to work before changing it back to dash level. So far, knock on wood, it seems to have reset itself and I have not had the clicking sound come back.
OP, I was driving today and had a buzzing sound that I swore sounded like was coming fron the nav screen. After touching everything around the dash, I finally touched the rear view mirror and that was the source of the buzzing... check that out, there's an allen screw for adjusting the tightness.
Are you in a cold climate? I've had a couple rattles in the dash. First one was because the DVD player wasn't bolted down. The dealer was very surprised that it came from the factory that way. I've had a pretty steady rattle lately, but it doesn't appear if it's really cold and I've just started driving. It will start after the car has warmed up a bit. They decided it is the radio, so they're replacing it under warranty.
