Removing front door grip cover

Removing front door grip cover
The service manual says to pry up about 2 inches from the bottom then slide the cover (this is the false wood grain cover) up. also warns about prying in the wrong space. I try this and can't get it to budge. Before I break something does anyone have any more explicit instruction on how this piece comes off?
