scratches in my baby =/

I'll post pictures later today but other than going to a shop does anyone have any at home methods to touch up my maxima?

Ouch...That's why I never park near anyone..I trust almost no one..although my last car some lady in a van managed to go through a store sign into my bestfriends car that slid into my car..So, hell anything is possible I guess.

I would recommend..using Turtle Wax and buffing it out of what you can..then if you'd like try touching it up with paint. Use a Toothpick or Match to fill it in..but let it dry of course. Then you have the option (if you know what you are doing) to sand it down.

I think Any type of non-liquid wax will be the best thing to use if you dont want to go to a shop..if you dont like Turtle Wax - Mothers & Meguiers works as well.

Sorry it happened bro..Good Luck

Well that sucks I would try a good rubbing compound to see if it will remove the scratches. Maybe a detail shop in your area can give you some tips also. Good luck man.

If they didn't break the clear coat a good rubbing compound and a few coats of wax will get the majority out, if it broke through that your best bet is a reputable body shop. What happened BTW?

Nasty scratches! I hate when that happens. I'd try buffing it out with rubbing compound. You could also get touch up paint from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

They do a great job paint matching. Someone used it to paint their front lip.

If you want it done well though, take it to a body shop.

A microfiber towel, some elbow grease and spit should take care of the bird crap on your hood though

If it makes you feel better, my windshield just started to crack this morning.

Scratch it with your nail and see if you can feel it. If you can then it will have to be painted, if you cant then it can be wet sanded with 1500 wet sandpaper and buffed. If you can feel it with your nail and its not too deep then you can still wet sand and buff it but it will still be there just not as noticeable. And also that black mark just looks like a scuff it can be removed with lacquer thinner.

So let me try....

Rubbing compound (Try buffing it out)
Wax (to buff some more? lol)
and if all else fails just wet sand it with 1500 grit and try again?

Hey I'm a total new guy here having just got an 09 Maxima about two months ago BUT I highly recommend if you want it done right I'd recommend contacting this guy.

He's one of the best in the business and you're lucky enough to have him right in your backyard.

Good luck.

I remember Scott when he and I were on the 5th gen forums. Good fella. He hasn't been on the .org in a few months though.

Scott is beyond excellent. Put the compound down before you do more damage than good. Give him a call.
Plus you might want him to do future detailing service for you. Wish he was up here in my state.

You shouldn't be scared. 1500 wet sand paper is only rough enough to lightly scratch the clear coat and it can easily be buffed out. Trust me I work at a lexus dealership and do this daily.
