the rear diffuser just looks out of place on the Maxima in the pics

I also am not a huge fan of fins on a diffuser. I think something VERY subtle is key here.

Agree with Doberman16. If it were any more aggressive than that GTR, I'd probably pass. But I do like the one in the pic. I'd buy if it looked like that.

 

I agree. It's got to fit the kit AND the car. Remember, Nissan designers had the idea of "liquid motion." Go with that idea.

I actually liked the look of the one jbling posted, the red G. Clean and subtle.

Bonus points if it actually works as a diffuser and isn't just for looks (but then again, we're just here for the look anyway, right right? )

Im gonna eventually buy the front lip, add me to the group that wants a rear diffuser, and any plans on making/adding a front sway bar for the 7th Gen

 

Making the sway bar wouldn't be a problem, but the labor to install it will make it a non-seller, or worse, we sell it, and have droves of people pissed because a shop might want 8-10 hours of labor to install. Do you really want a $1,000 front sway bar? :/

 

I had the Nismo front and rear installed on my 06 Maxima from the SER Altima, front cost 265 installed, the back they did not even charge me, so all together buying the front and rear and installed was like $500, not cheap at all, I know what it takes to install the front but its worth the price with the way the car handles.

If you make me a one of a kind I will buy it, along with the lip and diffuser

Im sorry Josh but whoever asked for those corners deserves to get shot... If i still had my max i wouldve gotten myself a diffuser for sure! those corners... no thank you they fugly. Stillen need to do a better job making kits for a maxima that front lip just about everyone has it you guys need some options already! be the pioneers in maxima body kits or something cause there isnt that many choices out there, and maxima drivers for most parts have the $ to get mods lol.

 

This is right on, you have to remove a bunch of other stuff to get access to remove the front sway bar. Same reason why AAM didn't want to get involved in bolt-on HFC's, the labor was 11-12 hours estimated or something ridiculous to install.

 

Josh@STILLEN - when could we expect an update on all of this? Have you had your initial talk with others there @ stillen yet? If so what was their reaction?

 

I wanted to ask the same thing. I know the interest is there for this, but we need to hear a little from Stillen too. We can sit here and post pictures of rear diffusers on other cars until we're blue in the face, but it doesn't put it on our vehicles.

 

Definitely doesn't hurt to have more people express interest in what they'd like to see on the Maxima. I like both designs with fins and without; for my personal taste I'd go with fins just cause I already went the aggressive route.

We have definitely been in internal talks, and discussing some of the styles you have presented in this thread.

I realize the ideal would be giving everyone 3-5 choices in a finished product, but that's not where we are at, we would do one design, and put that into production. My concern is while everyone seems excited about a diffuser, the styling opinions seem to vary significantly.

Let's get to some qualifying questions, and ferret out some of the general information:

- Material.. We do polyurethane in house, we have resources for quality carbon fiber in Southern California as well. But we'd need to pick a material and go with it, molds are completely different and can't be used for both. Both could be painted whatever, but carbon would be more expensive.

- Cost.. We do everything we can to keep costs down, but if this is a lower production run to start, what is your feeling for something appropriate? $300? $450? If carbon fiber, could be more than that.

- Styling.. Fins, no fins, GT-R look, etc. If we can settle in on the basics of the design, we'll be closer to looking at mocking them up, estimating cost, etc.

 

Josh can you edit the first post to include a poll regarding what people want to see out of a diffuser? That may help get a better picture of what everyone is thinking.

 

To fullfill both parties id say do both carbon Fiber and Poly

thos prices seem reasonable to me, personally if you offer a carbon fiber i will buy those fins to me would be fine but not so many maybe 4 being the max.

pretty much all designs would be nice i just want some Carbon fiber!

I agree with the suggestion from ghozt. A poll would def help! And I agree with nemo as well - I think both option poly and carbon fiber would be nice and if you (stillen) are looking to sell it as a complete kit - in order to go w ur rear corners it would have to be something like this pic - at which point I think I would purchase the rear corners.



Now of you are looking to not have it as a complete set w the current body kit that's fine as well. I wouldn't mind having something like the pic nemo just posted above ^
I do agree as well no more than 4 fins! And the price sounds good to me.

 

I like the idea of carbon fiber cause if done right it can slap right on and look amazing. Polyurethane may be a more "palatable" material due to cost though. Also if the polyurethane looks good and is matte black I can see a bunch of people slapping that right on and not painting it.

 

What I discern is that it would cost both the consumer and stillen more to buy/produce a carbon fiber diffuser. I agree with ghozt in the sense that people would choose not to paint the poly in order to keep a carbon-like look. I also agree with nemo in regards to the 2nd most recent pic...the fins stick to far out IMO. That's my two cents!

I definitely voted against having fins on the diffuser. However, I do like the diffuser on the RS5.

But after looking at it for a few minutes I realized why I like ... and it's not the fins.

The incorporation of mesh vents is what sells it for me. IMO, this is what keeps it sporty, classy, with a hint of don't f*ck with me.

The majority of the diffusers pictured in this thread are too over the top. It's like painting a gigantic bullseye on your ***, except the car isn't dominant enough to dodge the criticism coming it's way. Now if the car had the b@lls to back it up ... fine, put a giant diffuser on the back, heck make it a real (functional) diffuser to cover the entire underbody with a true front splitter and air dams. The point is that this is not what the Maxima is.

I realize I'm prolly gonna get slammed for this POV but I think keeping this design as subtle as possible will appeal to even more people (not just the people on this forum).

Stillen has stated that there is a market for the rear corners. To me that means that the majority of the people buying them are not affiliated with this forum (or any other Max forum), and likely are simply trying make subtle, yet sporty modifications to their Maxima's.

Anyways, I'm just rambling. I'll prolly buy whatever Stillen puts out. And I have no doubt that people will have very creative ideas on how to integrate it with the rest of the car.

That's my style right there. Simple, clean, flows well with the rest of the shape of the vehicle, yet real sharp and adds some extra flare to the vehicle. Love it.

 

just FYI guys, Sarona makes a rear piece for our car already if you want to go with a fin-less look. You could mess with the opening and add a mesh screen pretty easily actually. this is why i think most people wanted Stillen to design one with fins, cause one without is already in production.

 

that rear is UGLY.. stillen take notes please make it flow with the body... that kit stops the flow takes away the look and makes it boxy when the maxima is bubbly
