Rear Diffuser? New Product Discussion Thread
I like this a lot. Maybe slightly smaller fins as people have said.
In CF, I would pay $450 and put it on my car next week.
My car is very minimally modified, and the beauty of that diffuser is that it does not require other modifications to look good.

If I can put my 2 cents in I think if you make this carbon fiber it will not match with the rest of the car unless you have your car already layered with carbon fiber. I would love the Poly and we can then make it our own for each person that would go with it.

Looks like there were a lot of likes for this one and I wonder if even 1 would have sold.

So the talk in the 7th gen Maxima community definitely seems to be around a rear diffuser, something to occupy the lower area of the rear valance between the exhaust.
So let's discuss it and it's possible creation, what you guys want to see, other examples on different vehicles or previous gen Maxima's that looked good, etc.
I'm not making any promises, but I will absolutely have conversations with everyone here at STILLEN about making it a reality if it's feasible.
Not everything is possible to do in a beautiful material like polyurethane, so we just need to make sure what you're looking for meets the goals.
So let's discuss!

This looks like crap.
Maybe, but the truth is we're not all going to be 100% happy with whatever is designed. Perhaps if a few drafts were drawn out, we could start voting on design and move to a closer consensus, but not everyone likes the current Stillen body kit.
Agreed. There is demand for something obviously, to make nothing at all would be a bad move. Some people are already pursuing the custom route...
I agree with you about having choices but having a choice is better than having none at all . Going custom is cool but some people dont have the time for that is much easier if there is a choice . But I do hope stillen makes something nice
Right but I think people need to realize that if we can't agree on a style it not only is going to take longer to get something to market but they're most definitely not going to design two different ones. I think you guys underestimate how much it costs to design a part and create a mold for it...
Someone said it earlier ... but some type of drawing or mock up would be beneficial.
Not sure if that's how Stillen roles though.
What they should do is take all the input on this thread draw a couple pictures and put it to a vote.

At the end of the day their going to make what they felt fits their kit the best (I hope -aggressive or not ) and where going to buy it. Are input is not fazeing a thing if it is josh needs to be a little more active in questions
well, he asked for our input to start this thread, so i dont agree. like any company they'll make an investment in what seems to have the greatest ROI. he's obviously giving it some time to see if more people want to weigh in or vote, so when they make a move they make one that hopefully satisfies most of the community.
I think Josh/Stillen need to show us 3-5 prototypes then put it out to the public (here, FB, Stillen website poll) to gauge the reaction. If two are close in votes, make two. If one is a landslide majority over the others, then go with that. I don't think pricing is an issue because we all know, no offense to Josh or Stillen, their stuff is overpriced and it hasn't stopped people from buying and Stillen is still in business. At the current rate everyone is going to have their own ideas. If we all had the means to fabricate our own diffusers, no two would be the same. So I agree that not everyone will like the end product but hopefully most will.
Yes, a mock-up would be better since they wouldn't have to actually make anything. But I don't think five drawings is unrealistic. We just need to see what they are willing to produce and let everyone vote for their favorite. They have already been given some ideas from other vehicles. Hopefully it doesn't take them long to show us something.
like i said.... their going to make what they feel is best ... were are a tiny impact and a small community it would BE GREAT IF THEY LISTEN...were not making enough noise and no one is agreeing we need more ideas.. more input
We're here and monitoring this, as well as looking at our options for carbon fiber, and seeing what that cost might look like. We have several partners we work with in CF, who do excellent work, but sometimes that can come with a cost. So we're looking into that first.
As far as the design, I see some similarities in the requests, but it is difficult to pin you guys down to something you'd like to see.
We could spend forever doing rendering after rendering, but renderings have to also be planned with the modeling shop, to ensure a rendering is possible. It has to be done hand in hand so the final product can actually be built, and will have an easy installation. There's a lot more to designs like this than I think most people realize.
We're definitely looking at this product very hard, and we definitely appreciate your input and ideas, it helps us shape what you want.

I dont think a fin design would be good. Since stillen would be the only diffuser available for the maxima everyone would have the same looking diffuser. Imagine if we all had the same looking rims. Prob should be paint-able or customizable in some way. Removable fins??? Same goes for the CF design...
Found some free time last night to draw these out. Have fun picking them apart. If I have time, I'll give it another go.
Learned quite a bit doing them too - I'd bet there was an intent in the past when designing the kit to maybe make one, but it's hard to make things flow and match.
Enjoy.

ive already stated my ideal design on page 1... the second pic jbling posted I like the most or even the diffuser on the blue Altima sedan... and I like the first, second, and fourth pic shipwreck posted... just something clean to enhance the look not overpower it
