I don't know what "cack" is but the batteries should last for a loooong time, at least a year if anything. Make sure the buttons aren't being pressed when you've got them in your pocket/bag.

When I bought my car in February I replaced the batteries in both keyfob remotes. I've been gone for the last 5 weeks and my car was not driven at all, so the keys were not either. Yesterday I get the low battery symbol as well. I'm just going to ignore it and say something to my dealer when I take my car in for my next oil change.

I had a similar issue last fall. My service advisor suggested name brand batteries. I HAD put in a Dollar Store battery. Replaced with an Energizer (I think) and no problems since.

My OEM remote batteries lasted four years, but then I went through several sets of replacement batteries in short order, so took the car to my dealer. The technician there found one of the three internal antennas was malfunctioning. He ordered the part, then spent an hour or two installing it (at no charge, even though my car is out of warranty), and everything has been absolutely perfect ever since.

Since the problem was an antenna, and not the remote batteries, I even put my OEM batteries back in the remotes, and they are working just fine. And those batteries came with the car when it was built in Sept 2008.

Putting this briefly, since my OEM remote batteries are working fine after four years and seven months, I would expect yours to last at least three to five years.

I used Duracell batteries and even went so far as to buy the ones that had the longest expiration date on them as well.

I had this happen to me AFTER replacing the batteries in my key fob(from Radio Shack), but everything still worked fine. When I took it in to the dealer and asked, their response was that every time you replace the batteries in the fob, unless a dealer does it, a code will be thrown. They just deleted it for me at no cost since I was there on other business.

This is interesting and may be related to issues I've had recently where my remote would not let me open the trunk from the button, though it was on my person. I had to open the car and use the switch inside. This happens every now and then. I'll have to get this checked out. Thanks!

I'm still trying to get used to the keyless feature. I think it's awesome but I keep leaving the fob in my car during warm weather when I'm not wearing a jacket.

I keep my keys in my pants pocket at all time and have no issues.
